Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeremiah Herring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Herring.

Jeremiah Herring

Hi Jeremiah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
As the pastor of NDOW Live, my story started almost eleven years ago in the Washington, DC, area. Three years prior, God had given me a vision to leave my home church (NDOW DC) and move to Raleigh, NC. I was persuaded that the Lord thought I was crazy because things had just started to work in my favor in the DC area; family, friends, and others began to support my vision, and now I had to tell them that I was moving away. During my transition to move to Raleigh, my wife, and Lady Shanita prayed about the situation, and it became clear that our mission was no longer for the DC area. However, it was time for us to start with a new journey as a church plant in NC. After being called to plant in NC, we decided to promote our church during the pandemic so that only one person could attend our church launch. This was a moment of humility for me because we were not used to anyone showing up. Shaniqka Canty (Our First member) was the only person who came to support our mission as a new church plant in Fuquay-Varina. For almost three months, it would be Lady Shanita, Shaniqka, and myself having worship on Sundays, but we were dedicated to planting the ministry regardless of who showed up. Due to the pandemic, we were forced to become virtual. This led to our ministry growing followers & supporters through Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

After a full year of virtual church, NDOW Live Raleigh was established. In October of 2022, I was led to find a location to relaunch our in-person worship. Our first service was supported by more than twenty people who began to support our ministry consistently. After six months in a building that was only 850 sq ft, I informed the members that our vision was Bigger, Better, and Bolder, and we needed a more prominent location. With the help of community support, surrounding business, and membership donations, we move into the tabernacle where we now reside, located at 5800 McHines Place, Suite 120, Raleigh, NC 27616. On our journey to become Bigger, Better, and Bolder, our ministry has increased in membership, we’ve reached out to our community, and we currently work with a senior living building to support and provide comfort to those who attend services at their location. I am a proud pastor of our growth and expansion; we’re not done yet!

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The road is always challenging in ministry; however, we press forward. There have been concerns in the past of financial challenges when you have to ask questions like:

  • Are we going to make it?
  • Will people continue to join?
  • Are we truly reaching our potential for community work?

These are the constant challenges we face daily in ministry; however, we keep pressing forward. I recently struggled with Pneumonia that wanted to take me out of the world. I was breathing on 50% Oxygen & 50% airflow. I honestly wanted to give up. However, I believed in the report of the Lord that I would be healed.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently work for a real estate company along with pastoring. It’s in my heart to wanna be a full-time pastor to help more in the community.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important thinglesson is to remember never to give up! It may not look like it’s going to happen. The road may have a dark ending, but the more you walk towards your goal, the more you will see that the light becomes bright at the end of the tunnel.
