Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlotte Louis.
Hi Charlotte, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Since I was six years old, I dreamt of safe spaces. Even as I grew older and lost myself in toxic and abusive environments and relationships, there was always something in me that knew I came here to do more. I’ve accomplished work that fills me with immense pride throughout my journey. Above all, I take pride in being a mother who actively engages and leads by example, showing that belief in oneself can lead to limitless intangible achievements and the evolution of self.
Having struggled with severe depression and anxiety for much of my life, my path toward self-love and emotional wellness profoundly transformed my behavior, mindset, and reality. In April of 2022, I experienced such profound changes that I boldly decided to transition from my haircare business to founding a venture that would pave accessible paths to emotional wellness and stress relief for vibrant women professionals. This was the genesis of SenterME.
Charlotte’s journey has been marked by impactful moments. From coaching in group homes and shelters for women to facilitating workshops at universities and colleges, she has touched many lives. Her first keynote on emotional wellness, titled Keep It R.E.A.L., was a nerve-wracking but deeply fulfilling experience. As SenterME celebrates its second-year anniversary, it is clear that Charlotte’s work is making a difference. The team is currently developing the first emotional wellness app for women professionals, a testament to their commitment to empowering others.
At the heart of SenterME is a powerful vision to revolutionize women’s wellness. The venture offers transformative support for women who aspire to greater daily fulfillment, work-life harmony, and liberated well-being. SenterME is driven by the belief that every woman deserves a pathway to holistic wellness and empowerment, a belief that resonates with women from all walks of life.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been rich. I learned 3 precious lessons as a startup founder in my first year. A specific discipline is required in entrepreneurship that no one can teach you but yourself. It’s not about being hard on yourself but getting to know yourself so profoundly (which takes time and intention) that you can make the decisions that will likely align with your highest good. Self-sabotage is very real, and when you’re in a state of survivor mode, it’s the default.
Two, build your tribe. People need to know who you are, and putting yourself out there may be difficult at first, but you’ll learn quickly that your gifts and talents require diversity in perspective to mature and grow. This is why entrepreneurship isn’t a one-person game; you need community. I tried doing so much alone, and not only was I getting nowhere fast, I was lonely, and that isn’t good for your emotional wellness or overall well-being.
Lastly, I learned that failure is so necessary, and even though it hurts and it’s disappointing, it gets your creative juices flowing. Nobody is as innovative as someone who has failed many times but never quits. There have been times when I avoided the truth that failure was trying to show me, but when I decided to face it, I saw nothing but opportunities. Embrace failure like your favorite cousin at family functions. These lessons came from the moments in my journey that were the rockiest.
We’ve been impressed with SenterME Wellness LLC DBA, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
In short, that SenterME is needed. We all realized that human connection is unpleasant, emotional wellness is not excellent, self-care is not enjoyable, and safe spaces are not lovely. These are all must-haves, and you are a must-have! As humans, we are social creatures. In fact, in many cases, our first response to trauma is social support. We need each other to thrive and learn more about the opportunity to be emotionally well.
I lost my job right before COVID-19 and was thrown into entrepreneurship in a sink-or-swim situation. I am a single mother with two kids (a 5 y/o and an 8 m/o), and I turned my hobby into an online business. Still neck-deep in survivor mode, I managed to take care of my family, but it wasn’t until my 12th month, when I was expecting my first $10k month in revenue, that I broke every bone in my ankle and was not only forced to stop my business because I was a one-woman show but I was forced to take the first good look into myself because I was without all of my many distractions.
It was that experience that changed everything for me. I learned how to love myself unconditionally, I learned how to improve my emotional wellness, I learned how to connect with myself, I learned how to be gentle with myself, I learned how to ask for help, I learned how to listen*, I learned how to build a tribe, and I learned that there is something on the other side of fear, burnout, and survivor mode. It was so inspiring that SenterME was born.
