Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Campbell
Hi Christine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an elementary teacher for 16 years (which has flown by!). In my years of teaching, I have been blessed with incredible parents who wanted to help their children at home, but they didn’t always know what we were learning or how to practice. Many parents asked about “that new math” or why we didn’t send spelling lists home. They knew their children should be reading at home but didn’t know how to help their reluctant reader or how to fit in extra practice during busy weekend schedules. I also had a lot of conversations with moms and dads about establishing really helpful routines. Parents wanted their children to be more responsible with their backpack or wondered how to make homework feel easier. I found myself talking with parents about classroom strategies that also work at home and how to reinforce those routines. I saw a need to bridge the gap that exists between what we do at school and home. Parents often tell teachers we do a job they could not do; parents think we work our “teacher magic”. There’s nothing innately magic about what I do as a teacher, the big difference is that I do it every day. (And I have 20+ children at once so effective routines are really important!)
As I worked with parents about ideas and gave guidance, I saw such relief in their eyes. I saw parents identify simple switches they could make at home that would create a big impact. Through my coaching, I desire to give all parents that feeling. My goal is that parents feel equipped and empowered to help their children at home and know that they, too, can create magic!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve always loved starting new projects so that has been a motivation for me over the last 18 months! The initial stages were easy; dream big and go for it! The ins and outs of starting a business were a little trickier, especially for the components that are outside my wheelhouse. I’m thankful to have an amazing community of talented friends that have supported me with words of encouragement and practical help. From branding photos to website design, I’ve learned to say “I’m not good at this thing” and ask for help. I know I can’t be good at everything so humility has helped me fill those holes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in supporting parents of K-2nd grade students with academic and behavioral resources. Through one-on-one coaching, targeted resources, and community gatherings, my goal is to help parents feel empowered with the tools they need to help their children. As a classroom teacher, I have implemented many different research based strategies, routines, behavioral supports, classroom management plans and academics. I am excited to bring those tools to my parents.
As a mom of 3 young children myself, I know the daily ups and downs moms face and also our desire to parent well. I know firsthand the hurt we feel when our kids struggle and the frustration when we try doesn’t work. When I work with families, we talk through current needs and your goals. I help narrow down goals and pick a few target areas. We’ll discuss what is currently working (and what isn’t) as I curate a plan specific for your family! From helping with a bedtime routine that isn’t working, to coming up with a plan for summer fun and some school practice, to crafting a unique family behavior incentive plan, I’m here for you!
Along with coaching, I’m proud to offer additional resources through my website and social media. I’ve always loved sharing my daily life on Instagram and feel strongly that we need to see the real of mom life. As a working mom, I know we are all doing our best and I love showing other moms that not every day is perfect. We all have good days and hard days, but every day we do our best! I also have a library of resources, including summer resource bundle, family planning sheets, and academic worksheets.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I wouldn’t call myself a risk taker, but I there are always new ideas or strategies that I try with uncertainty. Similar to in the classroom when I teach a new lesson and I’m not sure how it will go until I actually teach it. I tend to feel hesitant when I try new things but that’s all part of growing as a business owner, an educator and a mom!
