Life & Work with Ducee’ DropTop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ducee’ DropTop.

Ducee’ DropTop

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was always been into music just not vocals, my parents introduced me into instruments growing up early. I played: violin, trumpet, french horn, guitar, bass, drums and percussion, but I didn’t start actually making music music till I was out of high school. I had a group of friends who was making music since high school and I was with them everyday. I loved the process and sometimes was just in awe of how creative people are and able to use their voice to express themselves. All it took was one of those homies to ask why I don’t make music with such a heavy music background. I was nervous at first but ended up making my first song with him and it’s been history ever since. took time finding my lane and how I wanna express and be received as a artist but once I found my identity its been up ever since;

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to success is never smooth. A lot of trial and error, teaching yourself if you don’t have the proper resources or knowledge and just putting yourself out there. You got to crawl before your walk but I think it’s all apart of the journey and the experience of being an artist/entrepreneur. Everything Im doing now is a reflection of things that’s happened to me or a friend and I took those experiences and applied them to myself and how ima go about doing things. don’t skip the process it builds character and honestly its just part of the game.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What’s good y’all! My name is Ducee’ DropTop or DropTop for short. I am an Artist/Entrepreneur. I make music for the people cool people who wanna get fly, smoke weed, live they life to the fullest and count up money. I also have a clothing brand, LandShark Clothing, LLC with my two business partners(Gotem & Kan3). Im Known for making music, being fly and flipping anything shoes. Im most proud of the new songs & visuals I have planned this year. I took a little time rebranding myself and creating new and dope stuff that defines me and the life I’m living right now. What sets me apart from others is my hustle, creativity, and sound. A lot of the sounds out here are similar and I just think my perspective, approach and things I talk about are just delivered differently which of course puts you in your own lane but ill rather be organic and the people who gravitate to that will understand. Also my drive as a human, I don’t settle and am always thinking about the next steps I’ve been around the block and this next run will be my best run because I’m applying everything I’ve learned from my previous drops and also things I’ve analyzed from things fiends and other artist around me have tried.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I Love both Durham and Charlotte. Both got pros and cons but to keep it brief because I don’t want thinks to be misread or misconstrued. Durham is a beautiful growing city with a lot of dope artist all pushing to make their dreams reality, I love that and the support artist give each other is real. the only con ill say about durham is the amount of venues, don’t get me wrong there’s a few but there needs to be more venues that offer things for all type of artist. from Rock, alternative, hip hop and even the Trap music they should all have a place where they can display their art. some genres are harder to book certain venues thus causing them to have to settle for smaller venues or don’t put on a show at all.
