Today we’d like to introduce you to Marinus Leach
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
America truly is “the land of opportunities,” and I wholeheartedly agree! As a Dutch immigrant, I arrived with little more than a dream and a passion for helping people achieve their goals. Starting my real estate journey with zero contacts in my database, I was determined to succeed through sheer hard work and perseverance.
In those early days, weekends were a foreign concept as I ground through the challenges, refusing to give up. Slowly but surely, my dedication paid off. My relentless drive and strong work ethic began to yield results, leading to a growing list of repeat clients and referrals. By my second year, I closed 39 deals, totaling $25.9 million in volume. Looking back, I was incredibly proud of myself and realized that hard work truly does pay off.
Fast forward, 4 year in business, I took a bold step forward and launched my own real estate team, comprised of six exceptional individuals. Our team is dedicated to providing white-glove, top-notch service, focusing on New Development (build on your own land) and General Brokerage in the Triangle area. We partnered with a local builder and designer to offer unparalleled customization options, proving that you don’t need to spend a fortune to achieve your dream home.
Additionally, we partnered with Homes for Heroes, a program that gives back to our community’s heroes. Through this initiative, we provide a reward as our way of saying THANK YOU to those who serve.
I firmly believe that success is built on collaboration. I organize events for fellow agents without expecting anything in return because I value the power of networking and working together. It’s not always about what you get back, but about creating a supportive community.
This is what America means to me—the land of opportunities. I never imagined I would be where I am today, but through determination and collaboration, I’ve achieved more than I ever thought possible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is there really such a thing as a “smooth road” in entrepreneurship or life? The truth is, no, it’s not always smooth sailing. But I’ve learned that embracing obstacles and mistakes as learning opportunities makes all the difference. Starting a business is a journey filled with financial and emotional risks. It’s like biting through a sour lemon before savoring the sweet reward. Even when things seem to be going perfectly, it’s crucial to stay prepared. That’s why I always keep backup plans handy, whether in my pocket or on Google Drive!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Let me share the story behind our name. “Landhuis” is Dutch for “Mansion,” a term that brings to mind the grand homes and our logo features a crown, a nod to my Dutch heritage and the Monarchy.
Now, let’s talk about our team. We are a dedicated real estate group covering the entire Raleigh Triangle, as well as Chattanooga, TN, and Atlanta, GA. While I can’t reveal all our secrets, I can tell you that our focus is on delivering exceptional guidance and support. For us, it’s more than just selling a home; it’s about creating memorable experiences and building lasting relationships.
We offer a variety of packages for our clients, tailored to meet their unique needs. Our services include moving packages to help you start packing, a concierge service to coordinate every detail, and relocation services for those moving out of state. We also have a handpicked gifting program that provides thoughtful gifts to our clients and extends a helping hand to families in need. At Landhuis Residential, we believe in going above and beyond to make your real estate journey extraordinary.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Starting a career in real estate, or starting your own business in general, especially in a commission-based role, is a leap of faith. But starting a team? That’s an even bigger leap,(financially and emotionally)— however one I’ve never regretted, even on those days when I ask myself, “What were you thinking?” The truth is, waiting for all your ducks to be in a row is a myth. That window is so brief that by the time you think you have everything lined up, a single pebble can scatter those ducks in an instant.
If you have a dream, don’t wait. Dive in headfirst. Yes, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, but when you focus on the bigger picture and maintain a positive mindset, combined with relentless hard work, the rewards will come. You might stumble, you might fall, but every step forward brings you closer to your goal. So take that risk—your dreams are worth it.
