Today, we’d like to introduce you to Emily Alderete.
Emily, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like most estheticians, I struggled with confidence in my skin. I have large pores and cystic acne; I tried multiple drugstore products that only made my skin worse. It wasn’t until my early 20s that I sought help from local estheticians who put me on a regimen that was ideal for my skin, along with monthly treatments.
From there, I wanted to know more about skin, how to treat it, and the root causes of skin conditions, so I decided to attend a local esthetician school. After a few months of going full-time, I graduated, and shortly after, I started working at a local spa booth rental. I knew I wanted more for myself, so I went solo after only a few months, and now I have my own space inside Sola Salons.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Going solo has its challenges, as expected. Not only are you the face of the business, but you’re also in charge of social media, bookkeeping, inventory, and so much more. Having to juggle all of it can be challenging at times, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Becoming my boss has opened so many opportunities for me to grow my business and as an individual. It’s so important to set your own boundaries, and at times, it can be challenging because you just want to do your job & help people with their skin concerns. Set realistic goals for yourself and take one step at a time when it comes to adding more services.
Thanks. So, what else should our readers know about Emily’s Aesthetics?
I’m a solo esthetician who mainly focuses on skin. I offer other services such as waxing, brow laminations & lash lifts, but my favorite is all things skin.
When it comes to skin, it can be very damaging to your self-esteem, and I want my clients to know that their acne does not define them. I make it known that I am here through every step throughout the process, they have my personal number and I check in with them periodically to get updates on their progress.
