Conversations with Ella Batten

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ella Batten

Hi Ella, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started honestly by accident. While I have always had a creative eye and love for business, I never set out to start Tandem. I was a stay-at-home mom at the time and was working part-time for a local jewelry company where my creative talents began to shine. Gradually, I started taking on more and more side jobs doing creative work—from social media design, branding, and packaging to creative direction of photoshoots and websites.
Eventually, I went more full-time with the jewelry company, but my friends always joked that I always had a side hustle. Truly, it wasn’t from my efforts; creative jobs kept coming my way. Finally, I decided, “Why not make it a real ‘thing’?”—and so Tandem was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Does anyone answer yes to this? Running a business is a winding road. One day you feel great, and the next you doubt yourself and your work. I think it’s been important to remember that I’m not just doing this for myself. I have a heart for small businesses and want to see them grow and flourish. I desire for them to have beautiful branding and websites that speak to their audiences. Ultimately, I want God to be honored in how I treat others through Tandem.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Tandem, we’re all about branding and website design for small businesses, content creators, and hustlers. What makes us unique? Everything’s done in tandem – we work side by side with our clients to create designs that truly speak to their target audience.
We’re proud of projects like our work with Naptime Kitchen, where we helped boost website engagement by 3.5x. But honestly, what excites us most is seeing our clients’ businesses grow and flourish.
Our approach is all about kindness, honesty, and authenticity. We’re not just creating pretty designs – we’re building partnerships and helping bring our clients’ visions to life. It’s about more than just good looks; it’s about creating something that resonates and gets results.
