Today we’d like to introduce you to Damien Brodie

Hi Damien, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been going to the barbershop regularly since I can remember; starting with my mom taking me every couple of weeks to growing up and going every week for a cut and shave. My grooming has always been important to me. A few years ago, I grew a full beard and needed products to use to help maintain it. After being unable to find natural products online; I figured I’d make my own. I did this for a while before sharing it with my friends with facial hair and they loved it. I had an idea to monetize my creation so I did. I think what I did differently was create a lifestyle around the story and products to relate to people with similar values when it comes to men’s grooming. I guess you can say the rest is history.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s always obstacles; especially starting off, but that’s a part of the process. Finding suppliers, marketing your products and yourself, it’s a slow process. I was doing everything myself from creating products, marketing, labeling and shipping, etc. so It’s easy to get burnt out. It all works out as long as you don’t quit.

We’ve been impressed with Durham Beard Supply Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Durham Beard Supply is an all natural men’s grooming company. We like to think of ourselves as not only a haircare company, but also a lifestyle brand. We curate pop-up shops based on the lifestyle and interests of our consumers. We put on a brunch where you can enjoy food and music while you check out our products, we also host a coffee and cigar social where you can relax and enjoy your vices while you get educated on our products and our company.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is getting up everyday and living life on your own terms.
