Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Lambert
Hi Kylie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to feelings and emotions. As a kid, I was told I was “too emotional, too sensitive, and too talkative,” but as an adult, I feel that these qualities are what made being a therapist feel like a natural fit. I saw a therapist when I was a teenager who made me feel validated and created a space for me to be my authentic self. Through our work, I felt empowered and motivated to do the same for other women.
I started working at a group practice in 2018 and decided to found my own practice in 2022 to help women reclaim their power by finding their “inner voice” to communicate more clearly, become more vulnerable, and more self-compassionate in their everyday lives. I am passionate about acknowledging client’s strengths as they overcome shame and guilt from past life experiences. In doing this, I strive to provide clients with a safe and non-judgmental environment to achieve their goals. I work primarily with millennial women and teens dealing with anxiety, self-esteem, and communication concerns.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been highs and lows throughout my journey while pursuing my undergraduate degree and transitioning to graduate school. I knew I had always wanted to be a therapist in a private clinician practice, but the path felt long and tiresome. I was practicing hospital-based social work before transitioning to private practice and sincerely considered leaving the field. I was burned out and in a job that was not super supportive, but I am glad I never lost sight of my true end goal: providing individual mental health services.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a millennial therapist with a modern approach of making mental health therapy comfortable and relatable.
Relationships take time, and time is our most valuable non-renewable resource. I want to build a connection where people feel comfortable advocating for themselves and their needs to ensure we maximize our time together. I want my clients to feel in the driver’s seat. As a therapist, I am an active collaborator, participant, and biggest cheerleader. I am here to do the work with my clients. I want to give them skills they can take outside of our meetings to help change behaviors and improve their confidence.
As a licensed and experienced therapist, I know it’s essential to create a space that is comfortable and collaborative. I utilize an integrative approach, meaning that I will use a combination of therapeutic techniques depending on what you need since everyone is unique.
Together we will explore your experiences, feelings, and values. I believe that everyone can benefit from talking to a trained third-party person who can provide insight and skill-building techniques to decrease suffering and provide clarity on uncomfortable situations. By allowing ourselves the space to process and explore our emotions, we alleviate suffering and increase our capacity to be engaged participants in our daily lives. I am on this journey with you, working alongside of you every step of the way.
I offer virtual therapy sessions for Gen-Z and Millenial women who are struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, and people-pleasing tendencies in North Carolina. All you need is wifi, your laptop, phone, or tablet, and headphones – no need to commute or change out of your cozy clothing.
What does success mean to you?
Contentment and autonomy over my life. Usually, when I say contentment, people start to freak out. I don’t mean I am settling, I mean I have curated a business and life where I feel at ease and have the control of my time and energy, while providing purpose and being able to live out my values.
