Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Field
Hi Stacey , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Nearly 15 years ago, I started yoga to maintain fitness and care for my body. As a lifelong athlete—runner, basketball player, CrossFit enthusiast—I needed a gentler approach. And while the physical benefits were great, it was the mental and emotional benefits, like reduced stress and anxiety, that hooked me.
After practicing at various studios around the Triad for several years, I decided to open my own. I completed my 200-hour certification from Asheville Yoga School in July 2019 and opened Humbled Warriors Yoga in November 2019. The name “Humbled Warriors” came from my mentor and friend, Jamie (Forbes) Mercadante.
At present, we have been open for nearly 5 years! Humbled Warriors Yoga has over 10 teachers and hosts a variety of classes, from our beginner-focused “Root” class to our Power Vinyasa Flow. We’ve recently added a class with weights that I’m really excited about, called Yoga Sculpt. We’ve also hosted a member yoga retreat and held pop-ups around High Point, our most popular being Yoga + Mimosas at Nomad Wine Works (an urban winery owned by a high school friend!).
A former teacher and life-long learner, I obtained my 300-hour certification last summer with Sonda Yoga.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been quite the journey, full of ups and downs. I like to say it’s like a roller coaster ride! Starting a new business from scratch and with no prior business experience (I was a school teacher for 16 years when I started the business and retired from teaching last year after 20 years) and navigating the closures and restrictions with COVID was very challenging. Despite the challenges, it’s been the most rewarding experience of my life. Becoming a yoga teacher and opening my own studio has helped me grow in ways I never imagined. There have been moments of doubt, but far more moments of pride and joy in what I’ve achieved. I absolutely love it. The support and loyalty of our community mean so much to me. The people I’ve met and the connections I’ve made have been incredibly rewarding and are a big part of why I enjoy what I do. It’s the positive interactions and shared experiences that truly make this journey special.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m naturally super shy, and speaking in front of any group—big or small—terrifies me. On the day of my very first class (which was also opening day), I was incredibly nervous, fearing I’d freeze or make a mistake. While I still experience varying levels of nerves before teaching, yoga has helped me grow and manage this fear both on and off the mat. Oh, and I’m scuba certified (but terrified of sharks!) 🤷🏼♀️🤣
