Meet Veronica Mossed of Winston-Salem, NC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Mossed

Hi Veronica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started photography as a hobby back in high school and slowly grew it into a business. I remember begging my mom for a camera for Christmas when I was younger and she got me my first camera. I became self taught from then on and started practicing by asking my friends to model for me. Next thing you know, I’m receiving inquires to do photoshoots and that’s when I took the approach to learn more about the business side of photography too.

3 years ago I decided to finally get a studio which was an even bigger step for me and I’m so happy I did that because it allowed me to grow my passion even more and create more art.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There was definitely a few struggles along the way, especially when you are trying to grow your business and work your way to success, there are individuals who try to interfere, some who don’t believe in you, or even try to ruin your name in the industry. I’ve learned that if you remain genuine, none of that can shake you and what you’ve built.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The moment I started photography, I instantly fell in love with creating editorial/high fashion images. I use to look at photos in big name magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle and be inspired by the editorial photos in it and used to think to myself “That’s what I want to create!” So, slowly I started practicing capturing editorial photos and putting my own projects together to build my portfolio and post on Instagram. Putting together these projects is something else I love to do. I enjoy putting together concepts/mood boards, finding the right models, getting a makeup artist/hairstylist, scouting locations, studying the light technique I might use for the photoshoot, styling the outfits, directing the poses, getting props, etc. I love being a creative director in addition to being a fashion photographer. I feel like that it was I am known for and what sets me apart. I get so many clients who need help with poses and outfits and I am there throughout the whole process because photography isn’t just “clicking a button” it’s so much more to it. I like to work with my clients on sharing ideas and coming up with concepts for their photoshoots.

My biggest goal is to be able to work with big name brands and for my work to be featured in Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I felt like the black sheep, I was the one who always wanted to do something different from others. I wanted to do things the non-traditional route so I can discover myself even more. Personality wise, I can be both introverted and extroverted and adapt to the energy around me.
