Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Pierce
Hi Monica , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been the person in my family & friend group that posts everything on social media lol. From pictures of events, family functions, all the things, basically the most engaged with social media.
I follow people & brands that I am influenced by on social media. I buy the cute outfits, beauty products, whatever I am influenced by. I would often watch the influencers videos and think, “I can do that” but needed to do more research because I knew it wasn’t as simple as posting a video.
My dad passed in October, 2023 and I took creating more serious to deal with grief and loss. He loved seeing pictures of travel, family, all the things in my life and even made a few fun videos with me before he turned ill. This is when I became intentional in creating content.
At first I wasn’t sure what I was doing, faced self-doubt. But I loved the process of creating and wanted to share my ideas. I persisted, kept creating, talked with other creators to gain more insight and created a team that provides guidance, helps create strategies & started working towards monetizing my content.
Fast forward to today, I’ve grown my audience, collaborated with brands and I also moonlight as a content creator for an event planning business. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for the opportunities I’ve had.
I’ve learned the importance of consistency, the value of engagement & I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Time management was one of my biggest struggles in the beginning. I found it challenging to balance content creation with other responsibilities. Working a full-time job, raising kids, managing their activities, having a personal life AND creating content is hard. I managed this by prioritizing tasks and delegating when possible and leaning on my team more.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have worked at one of the largest health insurers in North Carolina for the last 22 years. This company afforded me some of the best career opportunities and I led a team of Project/Program Managers that managed divisional projects within Operations.
The company had a lot of layoffs recently due to cost savings and I was impacted. My last day was August 2, 2024. I appreciate my time there and the relationships I built and am so excited for what’s next in my career.
Who knows, I may take on content creation full-time!
What’s next?
I am looking forward to growing my audience. I am working on reaching new people and building my community around my content, engaging with them and learning from their feedback.
