Today we’d like to introduce you to Alley Buscemi

Alley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After years as a set designer in New York City, staging stylish interiors for film, tv, and commercials, I entered the sales world and unexpectedly loved it. Within six months, I was managing multi-million dollar international wholesale accounts. I connected buyers from Fortune 100 retail companies with home trends and developed custom-designed collections. Eventually I wanted more meaningful work, and decided to sell the whole house. I’m coming up on 5 years as a Realtor, and in January 2024 I launched my own team at Compass- AlleyCo Homes.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all! Making a career in real estate takes grit and perseverance. There’s a reason 90% drop out within 5 years. I (foolishly) assumed I would be a top producer right out of the gate because I had a ton of early success in my sales career. I was wrong. The pandemic hit and it was a very slow start. It’s not as easy as we make it look on Instagram. It took me years to be a “top producer”.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
My reports home from school always said “talks too much” and I was always very involved in the arts. Visual arts, musical theater, choir… I was the extracurricular queen. My out-going personality is what makes my job such a great fit for me. First and foremost, real estate is a people business and requires great social skills and emotional intelligence.
