Hi Rocky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been a Fantasy fan. Whether it was books or movies or games. In 2004, while stationed at what is now Fort Liberty, I watched “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” and was captivated by the stunning landscapes depicted in the film. When the movie came out, I was here stationed at Fort Bragg, I went to the midnight showing of it and I was just blown away, I had to do some research of where the movies were filmed and I found out it was New Zealand, so it was on my bucket list for many years and then I went in 2022. That experience inspired me to share these adventure with others, sparking the idea of Flights & Fables. I then began researching the travel industry and discovered it was thriving. Obviously, I love Lord of the Rings, I love Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, all these things. So, I said that will be my niche within the travel industry. We’ve been operating for just over a year now and every month our client list grows.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s taken lots of planning along the way. I established the business, but didn’t start advertising right away. I spent the time doing lots of training and making sure I understood the travel business before launching the business officially. It was very slow in the beginning, as not a lot of people knew we existed, let alone that travel advisors were still a thing. But, through lots of networking and in person vendor events, we’ve steadily grown our business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Having been to all the locations that I sell, helps me give potential clients insights that others can’t.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I mean this is redundant, but traveling. Especially with my family. This business has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I went from doing my job, to doing something that brings me joy every day. It’s like the old adage, if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day. Even the non glamorous stuff is fun. Like taking the trainings, figuring out the marketing. I mean, I’m a nerd, and a lot of my business centers around that, so having nerd themed things is part of the business, not just a nice to have.

• Planning fee for a 7 day or less trip is $100
• Planning fee for a 8-14 day trip is $200
• Planning fee for a 15-21 day trip is $300
