Conversations with Marta Praslova

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marta Praslova

Hi Marta, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have been sewing my whole life. My grandmother was a seamstress and she taught me the basics. As I got older I started learning more about sewing myself and realized I wanted to do this craft for living. So I recently started selling on Etsy as well as taking custom orders.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been a struggle getting noticed and I still am struggling with having enough costumers.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in sewing accessories such as tote bags, book sleeves, makeup bags etc. I am very proud of the quality of my work, I put a lot of effort in every one of my projects. I have recently started a YouTube channel where I share sewing tips and tutorials with others, I really want more people to learn about this craft because it can be very fun and rewarding!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Up until this point I have taught myself for the most part but I’m very thankful to my grandmother who have showed me the basics and influenced my decision to start my own business. Also I have recently started an apprenticeship with a very amazing businesswoman and a seamstress who has her own bridal alternations business. I am learning a lot from her!
