Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily McPartland
Emily, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been a very creative person and, while looking for a meaningful outlet, photography became that perfect canvas for my passion. My journey began when I picked up a camera, and received guidance from amazing mentors. I realized how meaningful it is to capture and express the love and stories in other’s families and relationships. My daughters and husband have been my biggest inspirations throughout this journey; the different stages they endure growing up, their unique personalities, and their perspectives have driven me to capture moments that tell our story and my amazing client’s stories I get to meet. Each photograph is a reflection of their light and love, and through my perspective and lens, I’ve found a way to share the little moments that genuinely reflect families, couples and more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Luckily, my journey has been smoother than expected thanks to an incredible mentorship by Reg & Kala photography, as well as constantly pushing myself. It’s important, especially as a creative and a professional, to always be open to learning, building your community and challenging yourself because you’ll be surprised how much you can grow in so many different areas. Community over competition is key.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a wedding and portrait photographer, I confidently capture the heartfelt moments and unique stories of anyone who’s looking to capture their story, business, or love- and to get some amazing photos, of course. My focus is on creating timeless and authentic images that reflect the true essence of each client.
Something huge that i’ve seen sets me apart from many is my creative perspective; looking for the small details, unique ways to depict each moment and taking every single client into consideration when shooting. This is so important to make each session or wedding unique. I really strive to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience, allowing natural moments to unfold and ensuring that each photograph feels both genuine and special.
I’m particularly proud of my ability to capture the subtle, often overlooked details that make each story unique, whether it’s the quiet joy of a wedding day, the sincere expressions in a portrait session or a professional’s business that they have put their everything into. Seeing my client’s reactions when they experience their photos for the first time is incredibly rewarding and serves as a reminder of why I love what I do! My goal overall is to provide images that people will hold close and love for a lifetime, and I take great pride in achieving that through my work.
What are your plans for the future?
I will never stop learning, growing and building my community so my plans for the future are to be doing that on a larger scale, as well as helping other young professionals grow their creative space. I think having a creative outlet is so important for your mental health, but time restraints and finances can really impact being able to do what you love creatively. I would love to help others be both successful creatively and financially.
