Check Out Kris K. Gies’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris K. Gies

Hi Kris K., thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After playing bass in a swamp rock band for several years I decided to branch out on my own and focus on my songwriting. I’ve known the producer Steve Bigas from Porcelain Records for several years. He showed interest in my new project so we worked together to bring them to life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many struggles along the way! The music business is tough. Trying to build a new project from the ground up has taught me many lessons about perseverance. You have to believe in yourself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a songwriter and musician. Old Hoss is my current project. Recorded at Porcelain Records just outside of Raleigh. It is a mix of traditional country and jangly rock n’ roll. My favorites include Tom Petty, Johnny Cash and Matt Mays. The collection of songs that appear on the debut record “Mid-Atlantic” have some common themes about living your life, seeking thrills and hitting the road. These songs are great for road trips, job sites, dive bars and gambling halls. I am very proud of these songs which I worked very hard to craft. The journey in creating this record has been extremely rewarding. I look forward to what comes next.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My parents have always supported my creative journey. I am lucky to have family and friends who allow me to seek this unusual path. As for this new project I have to credit the producer/owner of Porcelain Records Steve Bigas. He worked the controls of the studio, played drums and sang backup vocals. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him.
