Hi Taniqua, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a single mom to a little girl . I told myself back in 2022 I never wanted to work for anyone else anymore I started my solo cleaning business back in 2022 with my ex partner when I left my home town back in Connecticut . I have a passion for cleaning & she was very great at organizing so we put our talents together and made it work . Business started off very slow of course because we were in new state with new people who didn’t know us at all , so we knew it would be difficult to gather the audience we needed . We had no money in our pockets barely ! from moving to another state and starting completely new . We had about $30 to our name , we headed to our closest dollar tree grabbed some products for less than $20 and made it work from there , we made some flyers , walked around our downtown , and handed them out to people walking and even handed them to businesses , I was losing a lot of faith because business wasn’t coming fast enough how I wanted to . We connected with a subcontract which was a bit of a downsize because sometimes the job wasn’t worth our time and money , but we knew we had to start somewhere and get our business out there . We created a Facebook business page , an Instagram business page , a Tik Tok business page as well and we would post our work , and transformations constantly so that people could see our work and how well we did so that eventually they would reach out wanting our services , we had the customers flowing in but they weren’t consistent or re occurring just one time . We started to grow a bit because we got contacted by a airbnb rental property they had a complex where they rented their units out for Airbnb clients , we took on that contract and it was great for us the money was great , the schedule worked well for us , we had about 7-8 units a day but weekly about 20-25 sometimes even more if we decided to stay late . We were able to take my daughter on these cleanings with us as well and she loved to help her clean , we would also pay for her so she had a little part time for the weekend , she was our little employee. That contracted ended & we started to continue promoting our business . We moved to North Carolina a year after and again its like we had to start our business all over again in a new state , but here in this state business was slow but then it picked up , we were growing our audience a bit more than we had back in our old state , the customers started rolling in , at a time business got really slow for us to the point where we had no business for months , my partner had to go back to work full time , while I continued growing our business , I kept losing faith , feeling down because I through we wouldn’t get anywhere , but we started getting more and more know I started using our platforms so much more I never missed a day of posting our content , long story short again I got to a season where things were slow and I had bills to pay , & I was on my own , so I had to go back to work part time , until business picked up and got me back to the point where I don’t have to work again , and I am still working on growing my business , I take customers on my days off & I try to work around my schedule , I now have 5 recurring clients , 4 residential and 1 commercial and I feel really good , I’m so glad I have come this far with faith and god & everyday I still trying to find ways for my business to grow and be a 6 figure cleaning business
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been smooth , it has definitely been a roller coaster and a lot of bumpy roads along the way . There is definitely days , weeks and months where business is really slow & there’s definitely seasons where it’s really booked and I have to turn down customers because I don’t have employees or because I have to work around my daughters school schedule . I had to go back to work part time while trying to still build my business

I am a solo owned cleaning business here in Greensboro NC & surrounding areas , I specialize in residential cleaning and commercial cleaning , I am now for the great detail and quality I provide in my business . What sets me apart is I’m solo owned and small and people love to work with smaller companies rather than huge , it’s just me that services their home it’s not multiple people coming in and out and a lot of my customers love that. I am most proud that my business and family owned and eventually it will be taken over by my daughter someday and not just a random stranger . I want readers to know my quality matches my prices , some say they can’t afford my services , but some say they love my pricing because it’s worth the services I provide as well . I always offer discounted services to my first time customers , I always hold goldfish specials as well for those that can’t afford my bigger deals they can always reach out when I have specials going on to get that awesome deal
