Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Joseph Brodeur
Hi Andrew, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began in high school with musicals, and my very first one was Chicago. That experience sparked my love for acting, and from that moment, I knew this was what I wanted to pursue. After high school, I trained at the Actors Group in Winston-Salem, NC, under the guidance of Burgess Jenkins, where I made the transition to film and TV acting. Burgess was kind enough to help me connect with an agency in Atlanta, and from there, my path in the entertainment industry began to unfold.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been an incredibly exciting journey, but certainly not without challenges. Early on, I was fortunate to book some roles quickly after signing with my agent, but there were setbacks and periods of inactivity too. The most significant challenge came after a climbing accident that nearly took my life. My recovery was long and grueling, involving learning to walk again and coming to terms with my physical changes after the trauma. Despite the hardships, I’m deeply grateful for the experience. It gave me a newfound appreciation for life and for the opportunities I now have. Every day I get to pursue my passion is a blessing, and I carry that with me in everything I do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor and a singer, though acting—specifically in film and TV—is where I truly focus. One of the things I’m most proud of is the impact my projects have had on audiences. Whether it’s a faith-based indie like The Mulligan or a Netflix feature like Tall Girl, I take pride in knowing that my work has touched people in some way.
My ultimate goal as an actor is to evoke emotion—whether it’s laughter, tears, or simply a brief escape from life’s challenges. For example, in my most recent comedy Brothers, I hope audiences will laugh at the absurdity of my character and just enjoy themselves. What I think sets me apart is my commitment to the audience. At the end of the day, my work isn’t for me; it’s for the people who love stories and media as much as I love creating them.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are so many people to thank for my success, but if I had to single out a few, it would start with my parents, my high school chorus teacher, Burgess Jenkins, my agent and manager, and my best friend. My parents have been my greatest supporters since day one, always helping me in ways I can’t even begin to express.
My high school chorus teacher was the one who encouraged me to do my first musical, and without him, I doubt I’d even be an actor today. Burgess Jenkins taught me how to truly connect with other actors and the audience, showing me what it means to be in the moment. My agent and manager, have guided me through the business and opened so many doors. And finally, my best friend, always cheering me on and brainstorming ways to support me when new opportunities arise. I truly couldn’t ask for a better support system.
