Hi Steven, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into photography began in college, a quarter of a century ago. The thrill of capturing moments, the play of light and shadow, and the ability to express creativity through a lens ignited a passion within me. However, life’s demands often took precedence, and photography was temporarily put on hold.
Recently, I rediscovered this long-dormant passion. The moment I picked up a camera again, it felt like reuniting with an old friend. The excitement, the anticipation, and the sheer joy of capturing a scene were as strong as ever. My heart lies in the vast expanse of landscapes and the eerie allure of urban exploration. However, I also find immense satisfaction in capturing the essence of individuals through portraits and the fleeting moments of street photography.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to reviving my photography career hasn’t been without its challenges. Initially, finding the time to dedicate to learning and honing my skills was a significant hurdle. However, I eventually took the leap, built a small portfolio, and left my day job to fully immerse myself in photography. While the financial aspect can be demanding at times, the peace of mind and fulfillment I derive from my passion far outweigh the sacrifices. Despite the obstacles, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything, as it allows me to pursue my love for capturing the world through my lens.

I specialize in capturing the often-overlooked moments of everyday life. I strive to reveal the beauty, emotion, and hidden stories within the mundane. By focusing on candid photography, I aim to document the authentic flow of life, highlighting the joy, melancholy, and elegance that can be found in the simplest of scenes.
I believe my unique ability to perceive multiple layers within a scene sets me apart. While others may rush past, I pause to appreciate the subtle details and emotions that often go unnoticed. This allows me to create images that resonate with viewers, evoking a sense of nostalgia, wonder, or empathy. I am most proud of my ability to capture the essence of a moment and share it with the world.
What matters most to you? Why?
For me, the power to capture and preserve fleeting moments is paramount. It’s about giving a voice to the often overlooked, the underdog, and the forgotten. In our fast-paced world, many voices are drowned out, and stories go untold. Through my lens, I aim to illuminate these hidden narratives, to bring attention to the beauty and significance of the ordinary. Whether it’s capturing the essence of an individual or the character of a long-neglected place, my goal is to acknowledge and honor the subject, ensuring their story lives on.
