Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Gonzalez
Hi Sophia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started doing photography as a volunteer at my local church when they needed someone to help with photography. I taught myself everything I needed to know to provide good quality photos and I discovered how much I thoroughly enjoyed it! From taking the photos to editing, the whole process was and is fun! I received many, many compliments from my church and was encouraged to consider making it a business – so that’s what I did! Woven in the Willows was born and my love and knowledge of photography has grown after doing it for over 3 years! I’ve now photographed couples, families, and milestones!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any new business, it’s had labor pains, and as she’s grown, she’s had growing pains. During the first year, I had to pause photography due to having my first baby. When I returned, I had to pause again due to needing three surgeries that required hospitalization and lots of rest. But I’m finally back behind the camera, tackling moments that need to be captured and providing my clients 100% satisfaction!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Woven in the Willows is a Latina owned photography business based in Raleigh, NC and looks for any reason to travel!
I specialize in couples, families, and milestones (birthdays, promotions, engagements, maternity, etc). My photography style leans more in warm, moody, dramatic, and cinematic styling.
Something that sets me apart is my desire to go above and beyond for my clients at an affordable price. I believe everyone is deserving of having their moments or memories to return to. If a client has a tight budget, I will work with them to get the same quality photos I’d give a client paying at full price. I’m just honored they’d entrust me to handle their memories with care.
I’m very proud of the effort and time I’ve put into my business: I created and designed my website, I edit all my photos at a high turnover rate, I receive compliments from all my clients regarding their session and their final photos!
If you or someone you know is wanting professionally edited photos in 2025, I’d be honored to be that person for you or them!
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk taking can be scary. It can lead to unsatisfactory results or a poor experience, and as a photographer, my goal is 100% client satisfaction and to have a built an atmosphere of joy for our session.
However, as a photographer, taking risks is sometimes necessary to achieve a result that leaves my clients in love with their photos. Getting in the dirt for the perfect shot, taking the long drive to a new city, booking the location without guarantee of sold out bookings, charging less than preferred, etc.
You never know the amazing people you’ll meet, the stories you’ll be privileged to capture, or the services you’ll provide to people in need.
For me, I’m just happy to take your photos!
