Rising Stars: Meet Ana Moore of Greater Raleigh – Travel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Moore

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2013 I was a stay at home mom and feeling a bit lost on my purpose. I was stuck in Mom mode and feeling like I was losing a bit of myself. I’ve always had an appreciation of makeup, my mother was a Beauty Control consultant for most of my childhood so it was constantly around and she educated me along the way. I began to teach myself how to glam others, I took on so many free sessions just for practice and I constantly practiced on myself while posting every single thing on my instagram, Ana K. Moore Beauty. After about 4 months of consistently posting I was approached about joining a wedding hair and makeup team based out of the RDU area, Makeup For Your Day. This really set me on the path to becoming a wedding makeup artist, I spent 1 year with the team to help build my experience with a variety of face shapes, skin tone, color theory and makeup looks. Since 2014 I have been a Freelance Makeup Artist serving the Raleigh and beyond into Eastern North Carolina.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for me. I have been an artist for 10 years and I would say the past two years have been my most successful. Getting your name and brand established in such a saturated market has been a big challenge, and I have continued to maintain a full-time job along side my makeup business for the past 8 years. I’ve had years where my heart wasn’t in the hustle and years where my health and my son’s health prevented me from giving my business my full attention. But I’ve found staying true to me and allowing my work to speak for itself has provided me with this success. I do not advertise on any makeup sites nor am I listed as any venue’s preferred makeup vendor, my business has been built on the backbone of word of mouth and that success gives me the biggest sense of accomplishment to date.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Freelance Makeup Artist specializing in weddings, pageants and special events. I am known for my soft glam and enhancing my client’s natural features. I am most proud of building a business on word of mouth and referrals. What sets me apart is that I continue to maintain a full-time job while growing and running my makeup business.
