Meet Dara Cashion of Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dara Cashion.

Dara Cashion

Hi Dara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey as a professional photographer began in 2017. I began taking small jobs such as engagement sessions, family sessions, a couple of weddings and individual lifestyle portraits. Photography has always been a passion of mine. I love capturing special moments for others. We’re always talking about how we wish that we could freeze time and that’s why I do what I do. When people go back and look at their galleries I want them to remember how good it was to have the whole family together or how little their babies were. Photos are permanent core memories.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve been faced with challenges in the past but especially now. Photography is such a competitive field that it is hard to get outreach. I try to keep my rates reasonable for those who can’t afford having pictures taken but every so often.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer. I offer various sessions that is from family, weddings, couples, engagements, seniors, newborns and other special events.

It makes me proud whenever I hear positive feedback or reviews from my clients. It makes me realize that what I do makes other people happy. It’s a permanent core memory that they can keep forever.

I never like to rush my sessions. I take my time to be creative and set myself apart from others. I do get inspired by other photographers and their work, but I like to be more personable when it comes to my sessions. I love interacting with others and getting to know who they are.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, Covid brought a lot of competition to the photography world. It’s been challenging but I do appreciate those individuals who still look at my work and choose to have me take their pictures.
