Meet Adam Cunningham of Longleaf Swine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Cunningham

Hi Adam, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Longleaf Swine was founded by Adam and Marc over a few beers and a shared passion of smoked meats in 2016. Their conversations turned into a successful food truck, and now their brick and mortar in the historic Oakwood neighborhood.

After many years of being a food truck, followed by a life of being nomads and doing pop ups, Longleaf Swine finally found a permanent home in the historic Oakwood neighborhood. Upon finally opening up in November 2022 they hit the ground running, winning numerous awards and being recognized as a Downtown Raleigh staple. Longleaf Swine wouldn’t be what it is today without our amazing staff and hungry guests.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting and opening a restaurant is not for the faint of heart. Running a food truck can be incredibly unreliable and unpredictable. You’re at the mercy of the weather and how big of a crowd shows wherever you’re parked that day. When we finally decided to move from the food truck and open a brick and mortar, it was 2020. Dreams got delayed. Renovating, restoring and opening a restaurant during covid brought an unimaginable amount of unforeseen obstacles. We faced delays that caused what should have been a 10 month project to take 24 months. We dealt with supply chain interruptions and inflation to name a few.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Longleaf Swine?
Longleaf Swine is a restaurant in Downtown Raleigh that specializes in smoked meats. We are more than just a barbecue restaurant. While our best sellers are pulled pork and brisket, we also offer smash burgers, smoked chicken wings, weekend brunch offerings, vegetarian options, etc. Our side offerings bring a fresh take to your traditional barbecue sides, with locally sourced ingredients. Everything we make, from our sauces and sides, to our rubs are made in house. Having been regionally and nationally recognized, we’re most proud of the local recognition we’ve received from our community. We recently were named best barbecue in Raleigh by the readers of the News & Observer. In addition to our brick and mortar we also offer a variety of catering options, from drop offs to full service weddings.
