Today we’d like to introduce you to The Hardcore Painter
Hi The Hardcore Painter, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey using leftover supplies from my dad’s paint company—scrap plywood as canvases and whatever paint I could find. Coming from a family with little money, I learned to make the most of what was available. Even now, as the owner of my own paint contracting company, I still incorporate those same resourceful methods into my work.
I became serious about my art around the age of 17 and have been creating ever since. In 2022, I secured my first permanent spot to showcase my work at ArtMongerz Art Gallery. From the start, I went beyond just displaying my art—I actively helped with the gallery. When the owner decided to step away, I stepped up and took over as one of the owners.
Before joining the gallery, I made small sales to friends and family, but since becoming involved, my career has taken off. Now, I’m not only growing as an artist but also helping other local artists gain exposure and present their work in shows. My art has evolved over time, but I remain true to my roots, focusing on abstract expression.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Growing up with little to no money for art supplies was a challenge, forcing me to be resourceful with whatever materials I could find. Along the way, my free spirit led me into the cannabis market, which ultimately resulted in my arrest and federal incarceration. Spending over three years in prison was a major setback, but it also became a source of motivation.
During that time, I was surrounded by incredibly talented artists, and living among them helped me refine my craft in ways I never expected. While I still face mental struggles, art has always been my balance—my way of processing life and staying grounded.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As The Hardcore Painter, I specialize in bold, abstract expressionism that reflects my personal journey and raw creativity. My work is characterized by vibrant colors, dynamic textures, and a resourceful approach—often using unconventional materials like household paints, plywood, and epoxy.
Beyond just creating art, I take pride in pushing boundaries and constantly evolving my craft. My hands-on approach sets me apart—every piece is built from scratch, from constructing the canvas to applying intricate layers of paint and epoxy. This process allows me to create artwork that is both visually striking and deeply personal.
I’m most proud of how my work has progressed while staying true to my roots. Every painting tells a story of resilience, growth, and transformation—turning challenges into something meaningful and inspiring.
What makes you happy?
Hardcore metal music makes me happy, and when I’m creating art with that music blasting, that’s when I feel most alive. Happiness has never been a constant in my life, but I’ve learned to channel pain and struggles into my work. Art is my release—it allows me to transform those emotions into something tangible. While I’m painting, lost in the process, I find a sense of peace and purpose that nothing else gives me. That’s when I’m truly happy.
