Rising Stars: Meet Cassie Jo Brown of Cary NC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Jo Brown

Hi Cassie Jo, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was exploring the workforce after high school, lost but wanting to make a difference, wanting to work with people. I was always a creative and my parents suggested hair school. I was apprehensive, but after a short tour, I knew this is what I wanted. I never knew how many doors this would open for me. Now, just shy of a decade behind the chair, I have made
some incredible art, traveled,
connected with such a supportive community, built up other skills and connected to so many clients. So many individuals who have trusted me to turn them into their dream selves. This career has been life changing for me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some struggles along this journey have been centered around starting this path at such a young age. There’s still so much life to learn when you’re 19/20, and for many young hair stylists, that includes learning to have difficult conversations with grown strangers. Telling someone what they want isn’t in their budget and working to help find the happy medium, or that you can’t get them to their desired goal in one appointment. Having to let someone down and set realistic expectations at such a young age was definitely something that proved to be an uphill battle for myself and I continue to teach to the new generation of stylists.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in vivid hair color/ fashion color. That’s all the rainbow colors! Specifically my High Impact Rainbow method. I have always known that the creative colors drew me in more than anything. I have always worked closely and diligently to grow and perfect my coloring techniques. The bold and unique call to me and I love to help create the most out of the box inspiration come to life. I am so proud of how I’ve been able to reframe this type of color for my clients, by educating them on how to take care of the color and how it fades, we can now work together to change and shift the color without reaching for the bleach every time. Many misconceptions include that this type of color fades so fast or is incredibly damaging to acquire, not only do I teach clients that’s not true but also in my work as an educator to other artists I inform how to approach vivid color in a healthy and unique way. That has remained the thing that sets me apart as an artist in this industry, as a color theory nerd, I love using color wheel knowledge to “color shift” hair to acquire a new look, quickly, and with no added damage. Constantly proving this does not have to be damaging and time consuming.
