Rising Stars: Meet Linz Godwin of We’re based out of south Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linz Godwin.

Linz Godwin

Hi Linz, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our guitarist Russell Baron and drummer Tyler King were already playing in another band named Zamloch together. Russell reached out to Linz Godwin asking if she would want to start a band inspired by bands such as Paramore and Sonic Youth. He assured that he had a drummer (Tyler) that would be willing to join. After meeting up for several practices we began looking for a bass player. After reaching out through social media, we found Colin West as our bass player. We then decided to begin writing about first EP, which we are currently recording. Additionally, we found our first gig at The Night Rider in Raleigh which was on the 18th of January.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’re grateful that we were able to find four very cohesive members that share the same goals, visions, and friendship. The biggest obstacles we’ve faced so far has been finding a first gig opportunity, along with pushing past writers block during practices that feel stagnant. Future obstacles we see being faced will be recording music and tailoring it towards our liking.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What makes us unique is our sound that is influenced by many different areas of music. All of our members bring in their own taste and tendencies and when combined it creates a multi-influenced sound.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We’re an easy to work with band. We’re honestly looking for any opportunities that open up for us. We would love to play anywhere within North Carolina, or even in other scenes and states. We are always actively for photographers, artists, and creatives to work with. A great way to support us would be to come to our shows and listen to our first single, Month of the Orchid, once it comes out.
