Check Out Harvey Street’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harvey Street

Hi Harvey , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started in the summer months of 2021. What was a few jam sessions a week in our original drummer’s basement quickly turned into a few shows per week in the Raleigh area within 6-8 months. We’d mostly play fraternity/sorority events but we soon realized we wanted to play our own shows playing our own originals. The next step was releasing original music and months later we released singles like “Irish Goodbye” and “Betty” and put out our “Gone For a While” EP, cementing our alternative, indie-rock sound. After riding off the buzz of our releases and playing various shows alongside the Futurebirds, The Stews, Arcy Drive, and more, we were offered the chance to embark on our first every Southeastern tour in January of 2024. After a year of touring, we’ve released our latest EP “Great Escape” and got to play amazing shows expanding our reach out as far as Colorado.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely been bumpy. Before deciding to go on tour, we’ve had a few of our original members leave to pursue other endeavors and we’ve also experienced many struggles while on tour. One of our biggest struggles was understanding how to get people out to our shows, especially in cities that people haven’t heard of us in. On the very first show of our first tour only six people showed up. We remember thinking to ourselves “wow this is going to be really hard”. Driving towards our second show, we weren’t expecting much of a difference but as soon as we started playing, we realized we were playing to a nearly sold out room. Learning from this and other similar experiences, we’ve come to better understand the markets we’re playing shows in, aiming to increase our numbers the next time we play. Our biggest obstacle we’ve faced was all our equipment being stolen towards the end of our summer tour. We had shows lined up the week after and we started to scramble to quickly find replacements. After setting up a Gofundme we were amazed by the support of our community that we were able to hit the road better than ever for our fall tour. We’ve grown immensely from these challenges, and were constantly reminded of the immense amount of love and support from our community every time we pick up our instruments.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are an Indie/Alternative Rock band from Raleigh, NC. We’re most proud of our tour, the experiences that came out of tour, the connections we’ve made, and most importantly, the growth we experienced. This was something we never thought would be possible.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Being kind and friendly goes a long way. You never know when an opportunity may come your way but this piece of advice has took us far and it has made saying yes to new opportunities even easier. It allowed us to establish good relationships with the people we’ve come across, play shows with bands we’ve loved to listen to ourselves, and meet other cool people in the industry,
