Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige King Johnson.
Hi Paige King, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out in piano lessons around age 6, which sparked a love for music in me. My family could see how much joy music brought me, and at age 10 for Christmas, my Papa bought me a guitar. He encouraged me to start taking guitar lessons, and there was no looking back after that. I started playing shows anywhere and everywhere people would listen. From then, I started dreaming as big as I could, and those dreams took me to Nashville, Tennessee after I graduated high school. I’ve been chasing the dream ever since, taking one bigger stage after the other, and praising God for it all each step of the way!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think that chasing any dream is ever smooth all the time. There have been plenty of highs in my career, but they don’t come without some lows as well. The entertainment industry is a tough one for so many reasons – the late nights, the time away from home, the critique of your art, the outside voices with their own opinions on how you should chase your dream, and don’t get me started on the challenges of being a woman in country music. But all of them are worth facing head on and tackling the best way I can in order to keep doing what I love every day.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a country singer-songwriter. I travel to play about 170 shows each year and spend all the time in between writing songs and planning music releases for my listeners.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a very outgoing kid. My parents have story after story of me going up to strangers just to talk to them or give them a hug. They could tell I was interested in performing at a young age because of how much I loved singing or telling jokes or being involved in church plays or programs at school. I was also very involved in horses – I grew up on a horse farm in my hometown and showed horses from the time I was about 4 until I graduated high school. They were my first love.
