Hi Kelsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The journey of Grand Moments Activity Kits began with my love for teaching and my passion for cherishing life’s precious moments. After graduating from Elon University, I became a kindergarten teacher—fun fact, I taught at the same elementary school I attended as a child! Teaching was my world, but everything changed when we welcomed our first little love in 2021. I returned to the classroom and continued teaching. I finished my tenth year teaching kindergarten just before our second little love arrived. At that point, we decided it was best for me to stay home with our little ones.

For the next year and a half, I poured my energy into creating fun, meaningful moments for my own children. Through heartfelt conversations with my mom’s friends and my own experience as both a teacher and mama, the idea for Grand Moments Activity Kits was born. I wanted to make it easy for parents and grandparents to have ready-to-go, engaging activities that spark creativity and connection. And from that idea, we launched!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road! The creating and planning side of things is my specialty—I’ve missed that part from teaching, so having this creative outlet has been amazing. But managing all aspects of a business while having two little ones running around (and a third on the way!) definitely makes things a bit tricky. Our house has been completely taken over by boxes, and I’m still working to find that perfect balance between being Mom and keeping up with everything that comes with running a small family business. It’s a bit chaotic at times, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say my ability to adapt. Running a small business while raising little ones means every day looks different! Being able to pivot, problem-solve, and adjust plans on the fly has been essential to keeping things moving—whether it’s shifting business strategies or managing the chaos of toddlers and packaging orders at the same time.
