Conversations with Rachel Abi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Abi

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
There is nothing quite making someone’s day better. There is a pep in your step that comes with giving a compliment or a smile and when you make someone see how beautiful they truly are it is life.

I got started in wedding photography because the idea of doing that for someone on their wedding day sounded like a beautiful gift I could give. I knew what it was like to want to feel pretty and confident but to innately feel awkward and bumbling instead. That is why I specialized in helping anyone no matter who they are realize they could be photogenic if they allowed to see themselves as beautiful as they are and feel comfortable and safe.

There is nothing better than helping someone see their own power and beauty.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is any business a smooth road? No, it has for sure had it’s bumps and at times the business side of things made me want to call it quits but every time I got the chance to help another person see themselves as they truly are: magic, powerful and beautiful it made it worth all the effort.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am giddy at the joy it is to help others see themselves as they are. That anyone can feel dazzling, radiant and magnetic. That all people are photogenic, they just haven’t found the photographer who helps them feel safe, feel seen, feel more themselves.

I have been the awkward person unsure of where to place my hands or what to do with my face. I spend a decade perfecting and widling down the easiest ways to help the people in front of my camera to not only not feel those things but better yet to feel emboldened to be their true loud, remarkable self.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We all have things we feel uncomfortable with, often because we have lived through our differences pointed out. Often what others point to as the issue is actually a gift. Where you are different can be a pain point but it is also your power: you are unique. You are fantastic. You just need to see you as you really are.

Remember anyone who has a life you desire, isn’t going to judge you for where you are. Those who judge do so because they feel small and feel unworthy.
