Check Out Anique Frederick’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anique Frederick

Hi Anique , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I first started singing when I was 19 for a pageant, but after that, I didn’t pursue it again—until May 2024. At the time, I was working in a barbershop, and my neighbor there, Barber Q, kept encouraging me to sing because I was always singing around the shop. One day, I shared a song I had written with him, and he was immediately like, “Yeah, that’s it—I’m taking you to record that song.” That moment pushed me to take singing seriously, so I decided to get a voice coach, Ms. Tanya Ross. I trained with her for a while until I felt ready to step into the recording booth.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest struggle has always been my confidence—it often feels like imposter syndrome. I question whether I even sound good, wondering how others can appreciate my voice. But as I continue to grow in my craft and practice more, especially recently, I’ve started to embrace my unique sound. Every day, I find a bit more love for my voice, and it feels like I’m finally discovering and settling into my true self.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a visual artist and author, but lately I’ve embraced the title of recording artist. While I’ve experimented with various genres, I’ve fallen in love with reggae and country music—a unique blend that sets me apart in a niche market.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My debut album, “Likkle Darling,” will be available on all streaming platforms starting April 2nd. I’m thrilled to share my voice with the world, believing that my words can truly resonate with so many. For regular updates, follow me on Instagram at _theaelle_.
