Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Price
Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for event planning and was fortunate to work in roles where I could organize and execute various events. However, after having my son during COVID, our lives took an unexpected turn. He was born with Gastroschisis, a condition where his internal organs were outside his body. After several surgeries and a stay in the NICU, we were finally able to bring him home. Due to his medical needs, I made the decision not to return to work.
In 2023, when my son turned three, I was excited to return to the workforce. I took on a few contracted event jobs, which eventually led me to start my own business—Campbell & Co. Event Management, named after my son. While I never imagined starting my own business, I realized I’d rather try and fail than live with the “what if” of never trying at all.
Initially, I took on any event I could, focusing primarily on corporate gatherings. Weddings weren’t on my radar until I had the opportunity to shadow Ashley and Trent from Something Fabulous Wedding and Events. Their mentorship opened my eyes to the wedding industry, and I quickly fell in love with it. This experience led to a position at The Grove and Market Hall wedding venues in Raleigh, immersing me fully in the world of weddings.
In early 2024, I dove into networking, which became a game-changer for my business.
I quickly realized the power of building relationships, and through word of mouth and strong connections with local business owners, vendors and venues, my business skyrocketed. By July, I was booked for the remainder of the year, and now, I’m fully booked for 2025 and already filling up for 2026.
As much as I love running my business, I also needed a consistent income to support myself and my son. I was grateful for the opportunity to take a position at Apple Law in Clayton, where I work during the day. In the evenings and on weekends, I hustle with Campbell & Co., dedicating my nights to weddings and events. Balancing both roles keeps me busy, but I love what I do and wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my community, including Clayton Women in Networking, my mentors Ashley and Trent, TANG, my family/friends and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. I’m excited to continue growing my business while showing my son that anything is possible with dedication and hard work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Spring 2024 brought unexpected challenges that led me to step back temporarily and seek a steady income. Balancing my business, my day job, and motherhood has been difficult, but I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my family and community.
Beyond time management, simply learning how to run a business has been one of the biggest hurdles. Most entrepreneurs start because they’re passionate and skilled at what they do—but running a business involves so much more. Managing finances, marketing, contracts, and client communication can be overwhelming. I’ve learned that investing in platforms and outsourcing tasks like bookkeeping and CRM systems has been essential for growth and sustainability.
Setting boundaries has also been a major challenge. As a people pleaser, I’ve struggled with saying no and setting limits with clients. I’m learning that not every client is the right fit, and establishing clear boundaries is necessary to protect both my time and my business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Campbell & Co. is a wedding planning business specializing in coordination, partial planning, and full-service planning to ensure a seamless and stress-free wedding day.
What sets me apart is my commitment to both the big picture and the small details. My tagline, “Details and solutions delivered with Southern hospitality,” truly reflects my approach. As a Raleigh, NC native, I take pride in going the extra mile, adding thoughtful touches, and making my clients feel genuinely valued and cared for.
What I’m most proud of are the relationships I build with my couples and with fellow business owners in the community. Wedding planning goes beyond logistics; it’s about crafting a personal and meaningful experience. The greatest reward for me is seeing my clients relaxed, present, and fully immersed in their wedding day. I also love supporting other local businesses in any way I can. I’ve found that creating strong relationships with other business owners fosters trust, builds credibility, and leads to great referral partnerships. I truly believe in community over competition and enjoy connecting with and supporting others.
What matters most to you? Why?
There are several things that matter to me in my business. First, providing excellent service to my couples is a top priority. It’s important that they feel secure, confident, and relieved from stress so they can truly enjoy their special day. I love seeing all the planning come together and knowing I played a part in making it a reality. I also place great value on building strong relationships with other vendors and business owners in the community. Collaboration is key, and fostering those connections means a lot to me.
Giving back is a big part of my life as well. I enjoy being involved in the Clayton Chamber and donating my time when I can. I also joined the Clayton Rotary, which has opened up many volunteer opportunities and ways for me to give back to my community. I love the town of Clayton and am incredibly grateful to have my business here.
Most importantly, being a mom is what matters most to me. It’s my greatest accomplishment, and I’m so thankful for the chance to show my son the importance of working hard and also giving back.
