Community Highlights: Meet Alexander Frank of Second Spark Fitness and Nutrition Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Frank

Hi Alexander, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in the relentless energy of Los Angeles; or what I refer to now as the shadowy place from the Lion King haha. A city of bright lights, bigger dreams, and as one would expect, modelesque type folks all around with bodies sculpted like statues. It seemed like everyone there had effortless physiques and confidence, and deep down, I always wanted that too. I tried programs like P-90X, Insanity, and others courtesy of my fathers magazine subscription to Mens Health. They all promised the same thing: “6 pack abs in 6 weeks!” Well, I never got that haha In fact all I ever got was frustration, a few more jealous bones in my body and the hesitation to take my shirt off at a pool party. No matter how hard I pushed, I never became that person; never had that Hollywood body and I became increasingly frustrated with the idea that I might never actually achieve that goal.

It was a hard pill for me to swallow, but, fitness wasn’t just about lifting weights and running until your legs fell off. It was about understanding. It was about recognizing that fitness is not a one size fits all approach. It was about building, not just muscle, but knowledge, discipline, and an unwavering mindset.

From there, it was back to the drawing board. I slowed down and went back to the basics. I tested different fitness and nutrition strategies; not just for aesthetics, but for true health and wellness, inside and out. Once I grasped that understanding, my body started to change, and so did my purpose.

“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” – Philippians 3:13

I have always wanted to incorporate my faith into a business, but my other ventures never really seemed to fit the bill. This time around was different. That verse became the foundation of my new venture. So many people fall into these weird diets with no understanding of what it is and why they should do it. The weight leaves and then comes right back around in a vicious cycle of highs and lows.

This was built with the sole intention of helping others step into their strongest, healthiest, and happiest selves: physically, mentally, and spiritually. Fitness isn’t about looking like someone else. It’s about becoming the best version of you. Cliché? Sure. But Lord knows that journey of self-discovery is worth every ounce of sweat and yes…tears. Like any great journey, forward is forward no matter the pace.

Through personalized fitness, smart nutrition, and faith-driven coaching, I’ve found something that I love: helping others break from their past struggles and voluntarily step boldly into the strength they were always meant to have. Your past experiences do not define your ability to achieve the long lasting goal of a happier and healthier life. I did it, and so can you.

All you need is a Second Spark.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is as smooth as a porcupine doing the worm on a gravel road haha Its training yourself on how you respond to hard. There comes a point where you find yourself in this lonely chapter of your story. Your friends don’t understand why you’re always working, your romantic relationships eb and flow with uncertainty as you’re always doubting yourself, and you are aimlessly wandering through a fog of ambiguity hoping that someday, someway, somehow, a road will slowly begin to make itself visible and eventually guide you to the picture you’ve painted in your mind of a perfect life.

You feel that uncomfortable sensation of change taking place where you’re growing into the person that you’ve been working so hard to become; but then in the distance you hear a faint echo of familiarity calling you back into the life you’ve been working on leaving.

The friends that say they support you only seem to do that when you’ve won. That support and encouragement wasn’t there when you were struggling. week by week, day by day, hour by hour. Even clicking that follow button on social media goes a long long way, yet that absolute bare minimum of support is not received. It is just you, clapping for yourself in a corner for a very, very long time.

All of this to say, there is a mental war that you wage against yourself by voluntarily signing up for this life in hopes that it will lead you to a better one; and that fight is severely underestimated by damn near everyone.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
