Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodreaka Sales
Hi Rodreaka, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a deep love for skincare and wellness, which led me to become a licensed esthetician. After six years in the field and three years as a licensed instructor, I decided to take my passion further by opening The Vanity Room Skin Studio (TVRSS) in Fayetteville, NC one year after moving to a new city. My goal was to create a luxurious, all-woman-run med spa specializing in waxing, laser hair removal, and advanced skin treatments.
As I built my business, I realized how much I loved teaching and mentoring aspiring estheticians, which inspired me to establish Haus of Vanity Beauty Academy (HOVBA)—a school dedicated to preparing women for their state board exams and successful careers in esthetics.
Along the way, I’ve navigated challenges like marketing, client retention, and business partnerships, all while balancing motherhood and my own personal growth. Now, I’m expanding my focus on holistic beauty and wellness, incorporating modalities like Cryoskin, and even pursuing nursing to deepen my expertise in medical aesthetics.
My story is still unfolding, but my mission remains the same: to empower women through beauty, education, and self-care.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—building The Vanity Room Skin Studio and Haus of Vanity Beauty Academy has come with its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest struggles has been marketing and client retention. Fayetteville has a competitive beauty and wellness industry, so standing out and consistently attracting clients has required a lot of strategy and trial and error.
Another challenge has been navigating partnerships and managing staff. Bringing in the right people who align with my vision hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve had to learn how to set clear boundaries and expectations to protect my business and peace.
Balancing business, teaching, and motherhood has also been a major hurdle. There were times when I felt stretched too thin, trying to juggle everything while still prioritizing my kids and personal growth. That’s why I’ve become more intentional about my time, setting firm boundaries, and creating a schedule that works for me.
Despite the struggles, every challenge has been a lesson. I’ve learned resilience, adaptability, and the importance of trusting myself. Now, I’m focused on scaling my businesses, deepening my knowledge in medical aesthetics, and manifesting the life I truly want.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Haus of Vanity Beauty Academy (HOVBA) is more than just a beauty school—it’s a transformative space designed to empower aspiring estheticians with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in the beauty industry. We specialize in preparing students for their state board exams and equipping them with real-world expertise in esthetics.
What sets HOVBA apart is our commitment to excellence and hands-on learning. Our curriculum goes beyond the basics, focusing on advanced skincare techniques, waxing, laser hair removal, and business education. We believe in not just creating estheticians but building beauty entrepreneurs who are ready to succeed in their careers.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the supportive, high-energy environment we’ve cultivated. HOVBA is an all-woman-run academy, fostering a sisterhood where students feel inspired, encouraged, and prepared to step into their power. Our goal is to help every student leave with not just a license but a clear vision for their future in beauty.
For anyone looking to break into esthetics or elevate their skills, HOVBA offers a high-quality, results-driven education with a focus on both technique and business success. We’re here to create the next generation of top-tier estheticians, and we do it with passion, precision, and purpose.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important quality that has contributed to my success is resilience. Entrepreneurship, especially in the beauty and wellness industry, comes with constant challenges—whether it’s marketing struggles, managing staff, or balancing business with personal life. But no matter how difficult things get, I refuse to give up. I adapt, learn from my setbacks, and keep pushing forward.
Another key characteristic is vision. I don’t just think about where I am now; I’m always looking ahead, planning my next move, and setting goals that align with the bigger picture. Whether it’s expanding The Vanity Room Skin Studio, growing Haus of Vanity Beauty Academy, or furthering my own education, I stay focused on my long-term success.
Finally, authenticity has been a major factor. I show up as myself, stay true to my values, and create businesses that reflect my passion for beauty, education, and empowerment. Clients and students connect with me because they see that I genuinely care about their growth and success.
At the end of the day, resilience, vision, and authenticity have been my driving forces, and they continue to push me toward even greater achievements.
