Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Jones
Hi Kayla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I guess you can say I’ve always had a niche for creativity and entrepreneurship. In elementary school, I remember being gifted a box full of beads, strings, and other trinkets to make jewelry. I would create jewelry and sell them after school. As a young adult, my first business was selling bundles and wigs, I created my own website and flyers. I saved up money to hire someone to create my logo but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I ended up settling for one I was content with after working with two different designers. I wanted to take my hair brand to the next level and get marketing assistance, so I began to work with a good friend of mine, Monet Miller. I actually ended up becoming her assistant for her marketing agency and that’s where I really got exposed to the industry and there I began to take a special interest in graphic design. I ended realizing I was better at designing than selling hair and decided to pivot around 2020-2021, I made my own page and designing for others for a small fee or for free if I was trying something new. I started off with logos, YouTube Intros, flyers, and then branched off into web design. I remember charging $60 for a website, which isn’t even 10% of what I charge now but I was eager to learn and gain experience. I like to say I became everything I couldn’t afford for my own brand. Looking back now, it took 4-5 years for my side hustle to turn into a full time job but I’m thankful for every year and the lessons learned.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was no where near easy and I even tried to pick up other jobs along the way when business was slow. I struggled with pricing my services, miscommunication with clients, teaching myself everything about design and marketing, and even unsatisfied clients while trying to discover my own design style . For the longest, I was looking for a “guide” or someone to look up to who did what I did. It turns out I was paving the way and creating my own blueprint for what business, marketing, and design looked like not just for myself, but for others. I made many mistakes and ran into not so good experiences but God has held my hand every step of the way and has used every bit of my journey to mold me into a great businesswoman. My journey is a testament that God uses all things for His glory and the good of those who love Him. (Romans 8:28) And that if you seek Him first, everything else in life will align.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
First, I’d like people to know that I’m only here because of God. Without Him, neither my business nor myself would exist or succeed and I give Him full credit for every opportunity I’ve been given.
KG Digital Creativity is a creative studio and brand strategy hub where style meets strategy. I specialize in Brand and Marketing Strategy and Design, offering a range of services including brand identity, website and graphic design, social media management, and other intentional marketing solutions for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
I believe how I combine creative clarity with genuine connection is what sets me apart. I take pride in my authenticity and the way I interact with my clients. I treat every brand I touch with grace, excellence, and intention, as if it were my own.
This business started from a place of need. I couldn’t afford to hire anyone when I launched my first brand, so I taught myself the skills I needed, branding, marketing, design, and strategy. Over time, this self-taught side hustle grew into a full-time, purpose-driven venture that now helps others build brands that are aligned, elevated, and built to grow.
I’m forever grateful to the people who trust me with their business, because I know what that means, especially for people like me, who built everything from the ground up. It’s more than just a logo or a post, it’s a legacy, a livelihood, and a vision.
At KG Digital Creativity, I offer not only creative services, but also guidance and strategy that help business owners to show up confidently and consistently. I want people to know that if you’re ready to build a brand that’s genuine and moves with purpose, I’m here, and I got you.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Some of my favorite childhood memories take place at my grandmother’s house especially when the whole family was there. Whether it was a holiday or a regular weekend, it was a safe place, it was my home, it was literally a physical manifestation of love and safety. Now that I’m older and some of my family members have passed on, I often think back to those times when I miss them or when I need a reminder of how far I’ve come along this journey called life. It’s such a blessing to still be here and to continuously grow.
