Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammy Jo Saraceni
Hi Sammy Jo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as an entrepreneur started back in 2012 when I ran an art party fundraiser company, creating custom artwork and hosting painting events to raise funds for organizations such as the local animal shelters and animal even Ms Wheelchair NC in 2017. After moving to Raleigh for a fresh start in 2022, I decided to rebrand and launched Florellie, offering affordable, minimalist gifts that feel luxurious without the high price tag.
Alongside Florellie, I’ve also pursued my passion for storytelling through podcasts. I started Auntie Jo Jo’s Library to create a cozy, welcoming space where stories come to life, especially for younger listeners. More recently, I am planning to launched Legacy Lore: The Accused, a podcast that blends genealogy and storytelling to share fascinating, lesser-known historical narratives. Balancing a business and multiple podcasts can be a challenge, but I’m driven by my love for creativity and making meaningful connections.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I’m the kind of person who has a lot of ideas and wants to dive right into them without always thinking it through. The biggest challenge has been realizing that there’s only so much time in the day and that I’m just one person trying to juggle everything alongside a full-time job.
I’ve learned that managing your time is key. You have to figure out what fits best in your schedule and then work towards your goals without trying to do everything at once. It’s important to me to give each project the attention to detail it deserves rather than starting a bunch of great ideas and not finishing any of them. Finding that balance has definitely been a learning process.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I wear a few different hats as an entrepreneur, but at the heart of it all, I’m a storyteller and a creative. I own Florellie, a brand that offers affordable, minimalist gifts designed to feel luxurious without being expensive. I’m passionate about creating products that make gift-giving feel special and effortless.
On the storytelling side, I produce and host two podcasts. Auntie Jo Jo’s Library is all about bringing stories to life in a cozy, welcoming way, especially for younger listeners. My new podcast, Legacy Lore: The Accused, blends genealogy and storytelling to uncover fascinating, lesser-known historical narratives. I’m proud of how both podcasts build connections and share stories that resonate with people. What sets me apart is my ability to balance creativity with purpose – whether it’s crafting a thoughtful gift or telling a captivating story, I focus on creating meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impact.
What does success mean to you?
I think success is finding fulfillment while making a positive impact on others. Goals and milestones, like making money, are important because they’re a tangible way to measure success, but what really makes me feel successful is connecting with people. Whether it’s helping someone find the perfect gift through Florellie or sharing a story or piece of history that really clicks with my audience, that’s what makes it all worth it for me.
