Exploring Life & Business with Chantel Lynn of Purpose Planning & Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantel Lynn

Hi Chantel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey is truly one of faith and surrender. I had a dream of what I thought I wanted my life to look like, and God graciously showed me that my dreams for my life were mere thoughts compared to the beautiful story that He handwrote, for me. It honestly all started with surrendering my own plans. Surrender doesn’t mean giving up, it’s more along the lines of giving in. Giving in to the One who cares more about your life and all that’s attached to it, and that will always and forever be, Jesus.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BSBA in Finance, only to find that after years of chasing society’s definition of success and burying my true passion – it was time to push past my fear and lean into my purpose.

What was that fear? We see it all too often. It’s the story of the young leader who climbed their way to “self made” success for the sake of presenting the illusion of power. All the while, after a lifetime of striving, they are suffering internally because they never learned how to simply, be – out of fear that one day, no striving will compensate for the fact that they themselves don’t know the person beneath the mask. The saddest part of that story is that the leader, all along, was already exactly what they were striving to be. I was that person, and after a series of perceived failures, I realized that constantly striving for the validation I was born and blessed with is the ultimate distraction, when I can just – be.

Then over the course of a few years, God got my attention. I was gifted with the opportunity to be in community and work with amazing leaders, and through them, I realized that no amount of striving would make me more valuable. In fact, the more that I laid down the desire to strive, the more aligned I was with my purpose.

We often think of our “purpose” as some abstract idea, when in reality it is truly just being your most authentic self in the season you are in, partnered with faithfulness. Faithfulness to me, looks like loving God with all my heart, mind and soul, and loving my neighbor as myself. I don’t see it as a coincidence that my passion led me to launching a business dedicated to helping other leaders and creatives be more secure in their calling, and I don’t see it as a coincidence that you are here reading my story.

My goal is to help business owners and leaders never lose sight of who they are, by giving them the tools needed to be more of themselves in a way that will better the lives of those they are called to serve.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has not always been smooth. Anything done in faith will present its tests, and mine were in the areas of confidence and identity. I believe once I began to understand the power and beauty within me, I was able to truly lean into seeing my business as a gift from God. I wrestled with the idea that this is work because for so long, social media and content creation was seen as a hobby to the masses. Creativity was not a reflection of success, in my book. So, I had to throw that book away. It wasn’t until Covid that we began to truly see the personal and professional impact that content creation has on society, and the massive industry that it is. However, my lesson is simply leaping in faith, without needing others to see my vision. Of course, seeking counsel is always wise, but there is a time to act and if you fall, you just fall – and when you fall, you get back up with the knowledge of how to not fall in that particular way again.

Along with social media management and consulting, I am also a content creator, and one hurdle I’ve had to leap over is honestly treating myself like a client. I’ve had to find the courage to step into my own creator journey and advocate for myself the same ways that I do for my clients. The same ways I would encourage anyone to.

We’ve been impressed with Purpose Planning & Consulting, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In a world that is ever changing, Purpose Planning & Consulting was birthed with the goal of helping service providers lean into their purpose, while still being able to adapt to the change and demands of the business tech and social world. The cost of those changes and demands tend to be time and efficiency, and with the right strategy, you will create space for more time to focus on the reason you started – your purpose. So often creators and entrepreneurs lose sight of their purpose because of having to face logistical roadblocks without the tools to do so. Your “Purpose Plan” is a toolkit intended to help address and overcome project and content management inefficiencies, allowing you to get back into alignment with your purpose.

Purpose Planning & Consulting, LLC is a digital marketing agency and business consultancy that empowers brands to fulfill their purpose by leveraging social media, digital marketing and content creation to build trust with their target audience.

I am a seasoned content manager with a proven track record of 6 years as a content marketing strategist. My experience as a business owner as well as a content creator has equipped me with the tools to lead the charge in developing and executing personalized marketing strategies.

These strategies come in the form of “Purpose Plans,” which can range from full service social media management or 1:1 business and brand consulting.

Helping creatives understand their gifts and value to the Kingdom and capitalizing on that is my passion.

As a consultant, I help others clearly articulate who they are and what their business offers in a way that establishes their unique identity apart from others, and empowers them to execute the strategies developed. From there, we are able to move forward with developing their brand messaging, content strategy, and execution with monthly coaching. This is a service I provide for brands, entrepreneurs, and content creators who need expert guidance to refine their social media and content strategies, as well as the support to implement them with confidence.

I also offer social media management, which is for those who want personalized guidance, accountability, and ongoing strategy support to ensure they’re growing and optimizing their brand.

I am most proud of the moments when I’m able to see hope restored in the eyes of entrepreneurs who simply want to get back their creative glimmer. The work that I do is often the missing link connecting businesses and their target audience and consumers. I’ve had incredible client transformations and the honor to work with so many amazing leaders who seek to make a difference in the lives they touch. The analytics speak for themselves, but the true evidence of my success is seeing the fruit produced by each business I’m able to nurture with my creative and strategic insight.

I’ve seen God bless every business He’s allowed me to pour into, and I believe my heart to bring God’s creativity into businesses is what allows His glory to shine through.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
A resource that I love utilizing is my beautiful community! I attend Wake Chapel Church, and my pastor, Sharon D. Nesbit, is not only an amazing leader but also one of the community leaders who trusted me with their personal brand growth. I encourage everyone to seek out mentors who care about your “being” more than what you’re doing. My pastor and church community consistently go the extra mile to do that for me.

The Healing Circle Podcast is another resource I’ve leaned into for years. Kyle and Kobe Campbell are among the people who recognized my gifts and encouraged me to bet on myself, for which I’m incredibly grateful.

My older sister, Denisha Smith, LPC, SEP, is a mental health professional who proudly encourages me to “trust God and go to therapy.” She’s helped me prioritize my mental health in ways that many of us tend to neglect but are absolutely necessary for daily functioning. Similarly, one of my closest friends, Kerrington Maner, is a gifted personal trainer and nutritionist who has walked with me through my faith and health journey for years. Pursuing my mental and physical health has truly aided in maintaining a clear headspace as an entrepreneur. Leaning on your community will show you that you have more love and resources around you than you can count.

A book I love is The Gift of Being Yourself by David G. Benner. It’s about the sacred call of self-discovery in Christ, which is one of the principles I model my business after.

Above all, prioritizing seeking after Christ is the most valuable advice I can offer to any business owner, creator, or leader.
