Meet Carolyn Bremer of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Bremer.

Hi Carolyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
At Bofémme, we have dedicated ourselves to the art of creating meaningful accessories since our inception in 2017. Founded in Knightdale, we began as a jewelry brand with a commitment to quality and uniqueness. Our journey has led us to expand our offerings, focusing on life-long experiences that resonate with our customers.

Our signature Charm Bar allows individuals to curate their own unique pieces, with customizable charms that reflect personal stories and styles. Research indicates that personalized items can enhance emotional connections, making our charms not just accessories, but cherished keepsakes. Additionally, our Permanent Bracelet exemplifies our philosophy of combining fashion with functionality, designed for effortless elegance and lasting wear. This piece has gained popularity, with over 75% of our customers returning for additional styles.

We believe that accessories should do more than complement an outfit; they should encapsulate memories and milestones. Our custom hat bar further exemplifies our commitment to individuality, offering a variety of styles that cater to diverse tastes. At Bofémme, we are not just selling products; we are crafting experiences that our customers will remember for a lifetime.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business involves significant risks, and with those risks come various challenges. In 2017, I left my traditional 9-to-5 job and returned to Raleigh from Dallas, unsure of my next career move. I knew I didn’t want to continue in a conventional role. While figuring out my path, I launched Bofemme to explore the possibility of turning my passion for jewelry making into something greater. Although the business gained momentum quickly, my ongoing struggle has been overcommitting and saying “yes” to everything.

I’ve come to realize that overcommitting leads to a decline in the quality of my work, feelings of burnout, and missed opportunities. I’ve learned that it’s essential to prioritize and establish boundaries for myself.

Since opening my store, I’ve become more adept at declining opportunities that don’t align with my goals, allowing me to focus on what I can realistically manage.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a local jewelry and hat designer who turned a passion for fashion into a thriving business. I’ve always enjoyed over-accessorizing—whether it’s jewelry, hats, shoes, or bags—because I love standing out in a crowd. I founded Bofemme to empower women to embrace their individuality and confidence through unique pieces that I create just for them.

I believe accessories should do more than simply complement an outfit; they should capture memories and milestones. What sets Bofemme apart is that we don’t just sell products; we craft memorable experiences for our customers that they will cherish for a lifetime.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of authenticity—staying true to who you are in your pursuits. There are many paths to success, and it’s easy to notice others achieving it in different ways. However, success is a marathon, not a sprint. Just because someone else is thriving now doesn’t mean you aren’t building a foundation for your own future success. We often admire what others have without recognizing the effort and time it took for them to get there.
