Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Abe.

Hi Natasha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Natasha, a cosmetic tattoo artist based in Durham, North Carolina, specializing in permanent makeup and paramedical tattooing. I moved to Durham from New York City, where I was working as a makeup artist and managing events like Fashion Week and photo shoots. When my husband and I moved to Durham back in 2015, I quickly realized that I needed to channel my strengths elsewhere and permanent makeup seemed like a natural progression.

Since then, my business and clientele have grown rapidly, and in early 2020, I opened Sanctuary Beauty Collective — a space for like-minded artists to come together and create. Whether I’m enhancing beauty through permanent makeup or helping clients with paramedical tattooing, my goal is always to provide the best possible experience and results for my clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running my business through the pandemic brought a level of uncertainty that I had never experienced before. Like many others, I had to navigate a constantly shifting landscape of regulations, safety concerns, and financial challenges. With Sanctuary Beauty Collective being a relatively new business, I faced the additional stress of figuring out how to keep my clients safe while also staying afloat.

Eyebrows and eyeliner are two of the most transformative features when it comes to enhancing natural beauty, and I take great pride in my ability to design and tattoo in order to highlight my clients natural features without overpowering them. I work closely with each person to understand their style and vision, ensuring that every result is tailored to their individual needs and preferences. Meeting new people every day is one of the things I love most about my job. Each client brings something unique, and I’m constantly inspired by the different backgrounds, personalities, and styles that I encounter. I believe that these personal connections help me create even better, more personalized results, making every experience not just about enhancing beauty, but about fostering a sense of trust and comfort.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Throughout my journey, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the unwavering support of my husband, family, and friends. Their encouragement has been a constant source of strength, especially during the challenging moments. From cheering me on through every milestone to offering advice and helping with the behind-the-scenes work, they’ve been my biggest supporters. My husband has been my rock, always there to lift me up, offer advice, and push me to keep going, even when things felt uncertain. His belief in me has been invaluable as I’ve navigated the ups and downs of building a business and pursuing my passion. Their love and belief in me have given me the confidence to take risks and keep moving forward, knowing I’m never alone in this journey.
