Exploring Life & Business with Angelica A Jimenez Martinez of JA Realty & Consulting LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica A Jimenez Martinez.

Hi Angelica A, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely! My journey into real estate has been shaped by resilience, purpose, and a true passion for helping others.

I started in the banking industry at a young age, where I gained my first experience with financial systems and customer service. When I moved to North Carolina, one of my first jobs was as a cashier in customer service. That role challenged me in a different way—it’s actually where I learned to speak English. I didn’t have time to go to school, so I learned the language hands-on, directly by helping customers every day. And honestly… there’s no better classroom than real life, right?

Later, I had the honor of serving my community during the COVID-19 pandemic as a contact tracer, which gave me a deeper sense of compassion and strengthened my purpose of being there for people when they need it most.

After that season, I ventured into entrepreneurship with balloon decorations and cake design under the name @PopyBalloons. I enjoyed using my creativity, but I realized it wasn’t what truly fulfilled me. My heart was pointing me in another direction—real estate.

It was my father, my mother, my husband, and a wonderful woman named Mrs. Mercedes who encouraged me to go for it. Mercedes was actually the third Realtor I worked with when my husband and I were trying to buy our home. After two previous experiences where we simply didn’t “click” with the agents, Cristina Osborn referred us to Mercedes—and that connection changed everything.

That homebuying journey gave me a unique perspective when I transitioned into real estate—I understood not just the emotional part of buying or selling a home, but the financial side too. After preparing for two years to buy my own home, I realized how powerful it is to be properly guided, and that sparked my desire to be that guide for others.

I later joined COGU Realty, and it felt like joining a family. We supported each other, shared knowledge freely, and grew together. Even though we’ve now followed different paths, I still feel deeply connected to each one of them. The tragic passing of our teammate Liliana hit us all hard, but Javier made a great effort to keep us united. That experience left a lasting mark on all of us.

I’m also a proud mom and wife, balancing work and family with joy and dedication. Real estate has allowed me to build genuine connections with my clients, and I treat each transaction with the same care as if it were for my own family. Whether someone is relocating, investing, or buying their very first home, I fight for them, I educate them, and I walk every step of the way with them.

Today, I’m grateful to be doing what I love—serving my community, growing my brand, and building a life that reflects my values: faith, service, integrity, and perseverance.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Like many immigrants, I arrived in the U.S. with big dreams and a heart full of determination, but also with the challenge of adapting to a new culture, a new system, and a new language. I worked in customer service, and that’s where I truly learned English—there wasn’t time for formal classes, so I learned through real-life conversations and experiences.

Balancing motherhood, work, and personal growth hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had to reinvent myself more than once—especially when I shifted careers and explored entrepreneurship. Although I didn’t start in real estate, I always knew I was meant to do something meaningful that would allow me to help others.

When I bought my home, I was confident and well-informed. However, I did go through two different Realtors before finally connecting with someone who truly understood my vision and needs. That process showed me just how important it is to feel genuinely supported—and that’s exactly the kind of experience I strive to give my clients.

One of the most difficult moments in my professional journey was losing a dear teammate, Liliana. It was a heartbreaking loss, but it reminded all of us of the importance of community, kindness, and staying united even through pain.

Each challenge I’ve faced has helped me grow stronger in my faith, more prepared as a professional, and more committed as a person. Today, I use those experiences to serve my clients with empathy, knowledge, and unwavering dedication—making sure they feel heard, supported, and confident every step of the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about JA Realty & Consulting LLC?
I’m a licensed real estate agent based in North Carolina, serving clients with a heart of service, strategy, and commitment. I specialize in helping first-time homebuyers, families relocating, and individuals looking to invest in residential properties. My background has equipped me with the financial insight and communication skills necessary to guide clients through each step with confidence and clarity.

What sets me apart is my ability to truly connect with people. I treat each transaction as if it were my own, always putting my clients’ best interests first. I take pride in educating and empowering them so they feel informed and supported, not just during the transaction, but beyond the closing table.

One thing I’m deeply passionate about is fighting for my clients’ best interests—right up until the very last day of the transaction. I never stop advocating, negotiating, or protecting their goals.

I’m most proud of building a brand based on trust, faith, and integrity. I strive to break the myth that homeownership is unreachable. Through every challenge, I walk alongside my clients—negotiating fiercely, explaining thoroughly, and celebrating their wins as if they were my own.

My goal is to make you feel seen, heard, and cared for in one of the most important journeys of your life—finding a place to call home.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Yes! My best advice for finding a mentor or networking is to start by being genuinely curious and open to learning from others.

Some of the most meaningful connections I’ve made came from simply asking questions, showing up consistently, and offering to help without expecting anything in return. I’ve learned that mentorship doesn’t always have to be formal—sometimes, the best mentors are the ones who teach you through small everyday interactions, encouragement, or even the example they set through their own work.

In my case, I’ve been blessed with incredible mentors—people like Cristina, who taught me so much when I bought my first home, and Mercedes, who guided me during that process and inspired me to become a Realtor myself.

I’ve also been inspired and supported by so many others—Liliana (whose legacy still lives on in our hearts), Banlly, Javier, Anggie, David, and Sofía. The list is truly endless. We’ve grown as a team, as a family, and through our connections with lenders and professionals who may not even realize that a kind word, a helpful gesture, or a moment of encouragement helped shape who I am today. And they continue to do so.

My family has also been a huge part of this journey—cheering me on, reminding me of my purpose, and walking with me in faith and resilience.

And never be afraid to ask for guidance. The worst that can happen is a “no,” but the best? It could change your life.
What’s worked well for me in networking is staying authentic and intentional. While I try to show up to events when possible, being a mom to a little one can sometimes make that challenging. Still, I make it a priority to stay in touch, give value where I can, and celebrate others’ successes. I truly believe that when you lead with community and collaboration instead of competition, the right people always find their way to you.
