Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Fuentes.
Hi Victoria , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I first started my creative journey as a junior in high school, working on small projects for my family. Word quickly spread through friends and referrals, and from there, my work began to grow. In 2020, after COVID hit, I launched my Facebook page, which became my primary way to communicate with customers. I initially focused on simple products like personalized cups and keychains before expanding into creating shirts.
While attending Barton College, I pursued my passion for graphic design more formally, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Graphic Design. During college, I made the decision to focus primarily on my studies, but after graduating, I reignited my business with new energy. I expanded my offerings to include embroidery and handmade scrunchies, all while pouring love and creativity into every project.
Currently, I’m a high school Visual Arts teacher in Nash County — a role I deeply cherish. I love teaching students how to express themselves through art and opening their minds to new ways of creating. Some of my favorite moments are when students say, “Mrs. F, I love your class — it helps me clear my mind and makes me enjoy creating again.” Those moments remind me why I love both teaching and creating.
Even as I teach, my dream of running my business full-time remains alive. I continue to create custom pieces like piñatas, embroidered sweatshirts, scrunchies, business merchandise, logos, and business cards — all crafted with heart and dedication. I am also proudly a military wife, currently supporting my husband as he completes Basic Combat Training. No matter where life takes me, I will always say, “Of course, how can I help?” when someone reaches out with a creative request. I truly love the end product, but even more, I cherish the process — the creativity, care, and hard work that go into making something special.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been many challenges along the way, but each one has shaped me and my business. From the very beginning, there were obstacles like financial constraints and the struggle to obtain an embroidery machine. As a high school student without a job, I had to save up for months, relying on the support of my parents to get started. But even after I had my machine, life continued to throw curveballs.
When I graduated from college, I faced a slump in my business. I had to shift my focus toward finding a job to build work experience for the future. This was especially important for me at the time, as I wanted to have a strong foundation for when I eventually bought a home. This decision led to a period where I didn’t put much energy into my business, which was tough, but I knew it was necessary for my long-term goals.
Things took another turn when I had to move out due to a family altercation, and I ended up starting over from scratch. I had left all my business materials behind, including my equipment and supplies, and found myself starting from zero all over again. It was a very humbling experience, but I kept going because I knew my dream was still worth fighting for.
What truly kept me going during the hard times was the constant support from my husband. He always reassured me that we were in this together, and we would rebuild as a team. With his help, we started acquiring what I needed to relaunch the business, and I started again, this time with a renewed sense of purpose. I also rebranded my business as Fuentes de Victoria Co., which means “Fountains of Victory,” because that’s what I’ve experienced every time I’ve faced hardship: God’s victory over adversity.
So, while the road has been anything but smooth, those struggles have only strengthened my resolve. They’ve taught me to trust God’s plan, rely on my support system, and never give up on what I love doing. Every setback has just been an opportunity to rise up stronger, and I’m determined to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges that come my way.
We’ve been impressed with Fuentes de Victoria Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a passionate entrepreneur who runs a creative and vibrant embroidery business that also offers a variety of other handmade products and services. From custom embroidered sweatshirts and scrunchies to colorful piñatas and unique business cards, I love bringing my artistic ideas to life. My specialty lies in creating custom logos, business cards, and personalized embroidered items, all of which are crafted with love and attention to detail. Everything I create is infused with my favorite color—pink—because it symbolizes my bold and fun approach to business.
What sets my brand apart is my deep faith in God, which is at the core of everything I do. I trust that He has guided me to where I am today, and that faith fuels my passion for creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces. Each product I make is not just an item; it’s a reflection of the creativity, purpose, and love that I put into my work. I’m also proud to come from a family where each member has their own specialty—whether it’s food, flowers, or handmade goods—which has always inspired me to continue nurturing my own craft.
I’m especially proud of the way my brand has grown, from pop-up shops at various events to having loyal customers who support and believe in my creations. I take great joy in sharing my work with others, and I’m grateful to be able to do what I love.
Above all, I want people to know that no matter what, God has the final say in my business. Every creation I make is inspired by Him, and it’s my goal to make sure that comes through in everything I produce.
How do you define success?
To me, success is not just about achieving goals or reaching milestones, it’s about growth, fulfillment, and making a positive impact on others. I define success as being able to do what I love with passion and purpose, whether that’s creating art for clients, teaching students to discover their creativity, or building meaningful connections through my work. A huge part of success, for me, is making sure that God is seen through my actions and my heart, sharing His love with others through kindness, service, and creativity. True success means knowing I poured my heart into what I created, that I honored God in the process, and that I made a difference in someone’s life. Ultimately, it’s about balancing personal happiness, professional fulfillment, and staying faithful to the dreams and calling that God placed in my heart.
