Like many aspiring legal professionals, my initial goal was to become an attorney. However, during my senior year of college, the COVID-19 pandemic altered my path. With uncertainty looming, I decided to gain more hands on experience in the legal field and obtained my paralegal certification. As life unfolded, I got married, had two wonderful children, and dedicated myself to working as a paralegal in a law firm. While I loved the legal profession, my dream of becoming an attorney gradually took a backseat to the demands of work and family. After having my daughter, I found myself constantly juggling responsibilities doctor’s appointments, daycare closures, and the unpredictable twists of parenthood. The rigid structure of a traditional law firm job left little room for flexibility, and I realized I needed a change. That’s when I took a leap of faith. I left the law firm, became a licensed notary, and founded Nixon Legal Solutions, LLC, with the mission “Sealing Every Deal, Supporting Every Case!” My business provides freelance paralegal services to solo attorneys and small law firms, offering them the support they need while giving me the freedom to work on my own terms. Building my business was a journey in itself. I immersed myself in networking, joined paralegal groups on social media, attended small business expos, and established a strong online presence with my Google Business profile. I also reconnected with attorneys I had interned for in undergrad and expanded my reach through platforms like Upwork. Working for myself has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It has given me the flexibility I once longed for while allowing me to continue doing what I love. Nixon Legal Solutions, LLC, is more than just a business it’s a reflection of my passion for the legal field, my dedication to excellence, and my commitment to helping attorneys navigate their caseloads with confidence. What started as a need for flexibility turned into a thriving business, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the journey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneurship comes with its own set of challenges, and stepping out on my own was both exciting and intimidating. In the beginning, the biggest struggle was building a client base. Unlike a traditional job where work is assigned to you, I had to actively seek out attorneys who needed my services. That meant a lot of networking, cold outreach, and following up with potential clients who weren’t always ready to take a chance on a freelance paralegal. It took time to gain trust in the legal community and prove that my services could be just as reliable if not more than an in-house employee. Another challenge was balancing work and family. One of the reasons I started Nixon Legal Solutions, LLC, was to gain flexibility, but in the early stages, I often found myself working late nights to meet deadlines while still managing my responsibilities as a mother. I had to learn how to set boundaries and create a workflow that allowed me to be present for my family without compromising the quality of my work. There were also financial uncertainties. Leaving the security of a full-time paycheck to run my own business was a leap of faith. There were months when business was booming, and others when I questioned if I had made the right decision. Learning to budget, manage inconsistent income, and invest wisely in my business was a tough but valuable lesson. Despite these struggles, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. Every obstacle pushed me to grow, adapt, and become more resourceful. Today, I’m proud of how far Nixon Legal Solutions, LLC, has come, and I know that the challenges I faced only made me stronger.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One surprising thing that many people don’t know about me is that I once put my dream of becoming an attorney on hold, thinking I might never return to it. Life took unexpected turns I got married, had two children, and found myself deeply immersed in my work as a paralegal. At one point, I believed that pursuing law school was no longer in the cards for me. But here’s the twist starting Nixon Legal Solutions, LLC reignited that passion. Running my own business gave me a new perspective on the legal industry, strengthened my skills, and showed me that I could create opportunities on my own terms. Now, I’m not just building a business I’m also preparing to take the LSAT and work toward my ultimate goal of becoming an attorney. So, while most people know me as a dedicated paralegal and business owner, what they might not realize is that I’m still chasing that original dream just in my own time and my own way.
