Daily Inspiration: Meet Jaimi Bailey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaimi Bailey.

Hi Jaimi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Honestly, it all started with Pinterest and a girlfriend who said, “Let’s try this.” One DIY boudoir shoot turned into friends of friends sliding into my DMs, and before I knew it, I was going full-time—right as the world shut down for COVID. Great timing, right?

What started as fun photos turned into something way deeper. I realized if I was going to hype up other women, I had to confront my own body insecurities first. This business became just as much about healing myself as it was about empowering my clients. Now I help women feel confident, sexy, and seen—without needing to change a damn thing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any business, there were kinks to work out—except I chose to start a niche, luxury photography brand in the middle of a global pandemic. Timing? Impeccable.

By year three, things got rough. Prices for everything skyrocketed, clients pulled back on spending, and I hit that “do I keep going?” wall hard. I kept showing up, but what no one tells you is that running a creative business means you also have to become a content creator, videographer, marketing strategist, and emotional support human—all at once.

I still battle the “Am I good enough?” voices. I still wonder if I should leave my cozy home studio for a fancy storefront. But the biggest challenge has always been visibility—getting in front of the right women and helping them understand this:

You don’t need confidence to book a boudoir shoot.
You book the shoot to get the confidence.

And once they do? It’s game over. They leave changed. And that’s why I keep going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a boudoir photographer based in Raleigh, NC—but more than that, I help women remember the version of themselves they’ve been missing. I work with women who give everything to everyone else—who’ve been surviving instead of thriving, and are finally ready to do something just for them.

My in-home studio is full-service: professional hair and makeup, a size-inclusive lingerie closet, guided posing, and a lot of hyping with just the right amount of sarcasm. What sets me apart is that I’ve been in their shoes. I know what it feels like to not recognize your own body or to question whether you’re “enough.”

And the truth is—you don’t need confidence to book a session. You need a moment of bravery. The confidence? That shows up later… when you see the photos and realize it was in you the whole time.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Raleigh is the women. There’s a deep sense of community here—especially among moms—where strength, resilience, and support run deep. It’s inspiring to watch women navigate busy lives and still choose to invest in themselves. That’s the heartbeat of my business.

What I love least? Without a doubt, the pollen—it’s relentless and unforgiving. And over the years, traffic has become a real challenge. Even areas that used to feel quiet and removed, like Zebulon, are now dealing with congestion that makes everyday errands or kids’ activities feel like cross-town road trips.
