Meet Earl Morgan of Morrisville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Earl Morgan.

Hi Earl, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was a program director for a non-profit organization in Washington DC which helps Veterans with government contracting. In 2021 while working a conference in Florida, I started slurring my words. One of the attendees recognized the symptoms of a stroke. I was rushed to the local hospital. When I woke up the next morning, I was paralyzed on the right side of the body. Since I’m dominant on my right side, it took me two months to learn how to use my hand, arm and. walk. When it was safe for me to travel, I returned to Morrisville and continued my rehab at Duke University hospital. I few weeks later, I was selected to do a nationwide study on stroke recovery. Returning to working three months later, things felt different which led me to retire in 2023. While mulling my future, I confided to my sister on what my next move should be. She said, “You need to be a photographer! You take great photos.’’ I’ve been taking photo since my brother gave me a Nikon in 1986. I was taking many family photos during that time. I joined the Air Force in 1989 in continued my photography hobby traveling other countries but never thought of it as a career. So, I took my sister advice and been happier than I’ve ever been. I named the company after my father, Ralph Asinto Morgan who passed away in 2008 while I was in the Air Force. I got my work ethics from him. He went from construction in the 70s to real estate and “flipping” houses in the 80s before it became a popular today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first 10 months were pretty rough. I would get a photo gig here and there. Some headshots and events. The area was full of talented and experienced photographers. Many had better equipment and set ups than I did. I go weeks at time with no photography jobs.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I mostly specialize in action.sports and special events. Raleigh has a large hockey following so I shoot games thought the Triangle including Winston Salem and Wilmington. I learned most of my event photography by learning from others photographers while I was a conference manager.. iHiring the right photographer for a conference is crucial for it’s success. I’ve reviewed plenty of portfolios.and I’ve seen some impressive work.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
