Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott and Josie Andler.
Hi Scott and Josie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Onward, or at least the idea of Onward, was always a passion of ours. We went to school in Upstate NY and quickly moved down to Raleigh and fell in love with the city. Being able to create a space in Raleigh where we could provide top quality care for the community, where the patient comes first, and where we could be a true part of the community quickly became a goal of ours. We got started on these values and the need for this became more and more apparent when we would go to continuing education courses on the weekend, learn some amazing skills, but then would come back to our jobs and be put into a system where we didn’t have the time or resources to implement the next level quality of care we knew we could. This is when we knew Onward had to happen. We got to work on how to create a place where the patient came first, their goals actually matter, and we could join them on their health/wellness/fitness journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating Onward Raleigh has been an amazing experience. We are lucky to have a great brand and support system with some of the top physical therapists in the nation. Having a team of therapists around the country all holding each other to a higher standard has helped us in so many ways. The Raleigh fitness community has also been a blast to work with. Working with community members who truly value their care, fitness levels, and overall health and longevity is an honor.
That being said, there have been struggles along the way. We have grown in some amazing ways and continue to grow with big plans for the future, but with startup and growth comes growing pains and stresses. Our biggest struggle early on was finding our location. Hitting what felt like every real estate speed bump possible, this process took over a year. We are incredibly happy to be where we are in downtown Raleigh, and have been able to create a beautiful space built with the patient in mind. Now, as we have grown and are looking to hire additional therapists, I am sure we will come across other struggles and stressors, but look forward to what the future will bring.
As you know, we’re big fans of Onward Physical Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a performance physical therapy clinic in downtown Raleigh. As a specialty clinic, we replace rushed appointments with detailed assessments, skilled treatments, and uninterrupted 1-on-1 sessions where the patient is what truly matters. We will help you come up with a plan to help you achieve your goals and come alongside you in your long term health journey.
At Onward we offer a wide range of tools including manual therapies like massage, cupping, dry needling, and spinal manipulation and mobilization. We offer rehab work, exercise programming, and performance assessments among other services. We are also a husband and wife team who specialize in our respective domains. Scott is our orthopedic specialist seeing injuries from head to toe and is certified in the clinical management of the fitness athlete. Josie, is certified in pelvic health and specializes in treating various types of pelvic floor dysfunction/pain, women’s health, and everything pregnancy and postpartum.
Onward is a growing brand and we are proud to be a part of it. We are up to 30 cities nationwide, with future cities in the works. We have a team of the top physical therapists in the country who are all trained to provide the best level care possible and who are all pulling the same rope to provide top level care in their cities. Having a collaborative approach to what we do with these therapists has been an amazing experience and a great way to continue to learn and grow from the best.
