Today we’d like to introduce you to Lashondia Spears.
Hi Lashondia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Lashondia Spears master esthetician and owner of Be Ageless Skincare Studio in Fuquay Varina NC. I have loved any and everything beauty since I was 5 years old growing up watching my Aunt perform facials and makeup application to my other Aunt, who in the early 80’s competed in several beauty pageants. I would always ask my Aunt Diane may I play in your skin care and makeup. When she would say yes, I would go into the bathroom and begin to give myself a facial and then apply makeup. I remember one time giving myself a facial and then applying my makeup. I came out of the bathroom and asked, “how do I look Aunt Diane?” She stared at me for a minute and said, “who was in that bathroom with you?” I said “nobody.” Evidently my skin was glowing, and my makeup was applied too perfect for a 5-year-old. That freaked her out. But I can say from that day on I fell in love with beauty. Unfortunately, at the time I did not know the name was Esthetics and that you could go to school to become an esthetician. Fast forward, I lost my job at 28 years old and I wanted something new and different in my life. I was speaking with a young lady and she shared with me that there was an Esthetics License that I could get that would allow me to perform facials, waxing, and makeup application and eventually open my very own business. I was so excited that day! I remembered how much I loved beauty. I went to my local Community College and enrolled. I made all A’s. and received my Esthetics License. So, to answer this question I discovered my passion for Esthetics at the age of 5 years old.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I always say nothing in life worth having is free from challenges. Being an entrepreneur is no different, I put in long hours every week and I give 100 percent to each of my clients daily. I know that when I work hard results are seen not just by me but also by my clients. I enjoy the ecstatic looks on my clients face when they achieve smoother skin or amazing lifting results. To know I was responsible for my clients smoother and younger looking skin makes my hard work worthwhile every time. I believe all women are beautiful and me being responsible for enhancing their beauty is worth my hard work and dedication each and every time. Somedays I may enter my establishment a bit overwhelmed but this doesn’t last long. As soon as I open the door to greet my first client with excitement, a huge smile, and a big hug, all of my overwhelming emotions go away!

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is that through my business Be Ageless Skincare Studio, I have the ability to make a difference in someone’s life one facial at a time. I love engaging with my clients, remembering milestones, spouses, children and grandchildren names. Changing a client’s skin for the better is so uplifting, and watching my clients see themselves in the mirror and they light up and smile. Having my client experience relaxation through my massage technique, after having a hard day at work, and having them acknowledge how relaxed they were after my services. Making a difference and making someone’s life better matters most to me. A beautiful quote by Maya Angelou inspires me, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. I would like Be Ageless Skincare Studio to be the reason clients never forget how we made them feel.
