Kalei Phree shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Kalei, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes, definitely. I’ve learned to take a moment before reacting—especially when I sense an attitude or energy that doesn’t sit right with me. Instead of reacting impulsively, I choose to pause, observe, and alchemize the situation. I’ve found that by giving space for things to unfold, I’m able to assess more clearly and respond from a grounded place. That approach has saved me from unnecessary conflict and often leads to a more productive outcome.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Kalei Phree, founder of Phreedom Healing, a holistic wellness brand that blends sound healing, yoga, and self-awareness practices. I create sacred spaces where people can reconnect with their bodies, calm their nervous systems, and feel safe enough to heal through sound, movement, and intentional rest.
What makes my work special is that it’s rooted in my own journey. After experiencing depression, anxiety, and PTSD, I began diving into the science of healing. I studied epigenetics, neuroplasticity, and how we can rewire the brain to create real change. That path eventually led me to the spiritual side of healing, where I discovered how deeply the two are connected. It opened my heart and mind to a more integrated, whole-body approach to wellness.
Now I lead sound baths, teach certification programs, and hold space at community-centered events that help people reconnect with their inner power. Whether I’m teaching at a college, guiding a private session, or mentoring future healers, my mission is to help people feel at home in their bodies again and remember that healing is not only possible, but natural.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks the bonds between people is often unspoken pain. Misunderstandings, lack of presence, broken trust, unmet expectations, and the silence that grows when truth is withheld. Sometimes it’s pride, fear, or simply growing in different directions without nourishing the connection in between.
What restores those bonds is vulnerability. It’s the willingness to see and be seen, to listen without defense, and to show up even when it feels uncomfortable. Restoration lives in honest conversations, consistent actions, forgiveness, and mutual effort. It’s in the choice to tend to the connection like a sacred garden, knowing it takes time, patience, and care to grow again after a season of loss.
Essentially, connection often comes from forgetting to love each other in the way we each need. Reconnection begins when we remember.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Some of the most defining wounds in my life came from the spaces where I realized that I abandoned myself. Times when I chose people, situations, and patterns that didn’t honor me and I stayed. I’ve been through breakups, betrayal, emotional turmoil, and moments where I felt depleted from constantly showing up for others while neglecting myself.
But one of the biggest turning points in my healing was when I stopped pointing outward and started looking within. I began observing the roles I played in my own pain. I asked myself why I allowed certain energies in my life, why I ignored red flags, and what I was choosing over my own peace. That self-inquiry was powerful. It cracked me open and invited me to choose differently.
From there, I immersed myself in holistic healing, sound therapy, and the science of the nervous system. I studied epigenetics, neuroplasticity, and how to rewire the brain. That opened the door to deeper spiritual healing, where I found rituals, movement, rest, and a renewed relationship with my body and intuition.
Healing has been a journey of returning to myself. And now, I help others do the same by creating spaces where they can feel safe, seen, and empowered to choose themselves too.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that we exist in multiple timelines at once with different versions of ourselves living out different choices, lessons, and realities. Every decision, every thought, every shift in energy creates a ripple that opens another path. Sometimes I feel glimpses of these timelines in déjà vu, in dreams, in the sudden knowing that I’ve been somewhere or lived something before.
I can’t prove it, but I believe our souls are expansive, and this human experience is just one thread of a much greater tapestry. Time isn’t linear the way we’ve been taught. It bends, loops, stretches, and sometimes overlaps. I believe we’re constantly weaving between timelines, aligning with the one that matches our current frequency.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m finally doing what I was born to do. For years, I followed the path I thought I was supposed to—working jobs that looked good on paper but didn’t align with my spirit. Once I began listening to my inner voice, I stepped fully into my purpose as a sound healer, yoga teacher, and guide.
I’ve since written Your Guide to Healing with Sound, a self-published eBook that introduces others to the power of sound therapy, blending my lived experience with the knowledge I’ve gained through years of study.
I also created two signature events that have become deeply valued in my community—Phreedom to Break Through, a transformative healing seminar, and Sounds of Symphony, a sound bath experience held on the water. Both are original to my brand, and last year marked the fourth annual for each. It’s an honor to hold space in ways that are not only unique but truly impactful.
