An Inspired Chat with Jade Reneé of Durham

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jade Reneé. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Jade , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day. Such an important time of the day I feel. It sets a good tone for the rest of the day to come ! My morning routine always starts off with me making my bed and going to sit outside for a few moments of sun. While I’m out there I usually bring some lemon water and my journal to get out any thoughts, or dreams that have passed through my brain. I also take some time to make a plan for the day !
After that I come back inside I get myself ready to do my workout and some yoga. Once I finish that I hop in the shower and go through my whole personal grooming routine to get myself ready and dressed for the day. This routine really helps me stay grounded and focused and allows me to fall into creative flow throughout the day !

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi all ! My name is Jade and I am the owner and founder of Whipped Cream Body, an all natural self care company that caters to sensitive skin ! I am grateful to have this opportunity to share my story with you all again and I cannot wait to tell you about the ways we’ve grown !

Whipped Cream Body specializes in making body butters, and oils that deeply nourish and heal the skin and hair ! Our body butters use a blend of 10 specially picked oils and butters that are non greasy and leave you with deeply moisturized and glowing skin ! Our Scalp oil is very similar where it is made with 7 specially picked oils as well as Chebe powder which is an herb used by Chadian women to reduce breakage and strengthen the hair cuticle !

This company is built on the foundation of creativity and love ! Our body butters were first created for my mother, she was dealing with some serious skin dryness due to medication she was taking at the time and she wanted me to try and make something that could help. So with what we had in the house I started mixing and experimenting. After some trial and error I came upon the formula we have today and it healed her skin within a month of consistent use ! I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to have been able to help my mother, who has since passed, to feel comfortable in her own skin and to now be able to assist those with eczema and psoriasis and overall dryness feel comfortable in their skin ! It is truly a blessing!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I honestly love this question !

It’s very interesting because truly at a very young age I honestly could tell that there was something different about me. It was one of those things that I couldn’t really pinpoint but I just could feel it. I always remember feeling the most powerful when I was creating something.

Whether that was drawing, painting, dancing, experimenting, building something, I was fully and passionately into it.
I’ve also always been someone who’s had multiple creations going on at one time. Which to some may sound like a lot but it honestly works for my brain. In my roots i’ve always have had a focus on creation of some sorts within the arts.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The thing about suffering is you truly have a choice. You can perceive it as a lesson or you can perceive it as a burden. I’ve always been one to perceive it as a lesson in preparation for success. Experiencing deep pain and sorrow has truly opened me up to step into experiencing deep love and beauty. It’s a balancing act. Suffering has truly deepened my passion, my love, and my ambition. It lights a fire under my butt honestly. So suffering and success I believe one leads to the other and vise versa. It’s just all in what you choose.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
I like this question because it made me think a bit.

Truly the first thing that came to mind is that my peace is a non negotiable. I learned at an early age that I am in control of how regulated and dis -regulated my nervous system is. I chose what feels nourishing and what feels draining. So establishing boundaries for myself was huge ! The older I’ve gotten with them the more they’ve truly served me in what and who I surround myself with.

The second thing to came to mind is that I do not play around when it comes to the legacy I am working to build. I want to build something that continues to give back and remind people the importance of self love and care, something that reminds people that there is kindness and compassion out there.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Personally I take everything I do very seriously. I understand that what I am trying to build truly will take longer than most will generally plan for. I have a lot of things I am in the process of building but one of them is working towards getting my masters degree. I am currently in school for my bachelor’s degree and I know it will be another 4-6 years before I fully complete with my masters.

Another thing I know will take time is this business here I’m building. It takes time to really learn what does and doesn’t work and find your niche or pocket. Especially at a young age and no demonstration. There are many obstacles to overcome personally and logistically but I am truly dedicated to this and determined to overcome any obstacle that may arise.

I honestly think the reason it will take me so long to fully finish the creation I have envisioned is because I have multiple things I’m working on at the same time. I’m currently in school and building Whipped Cream Body full time. That’s what takes up most of my time but I also am a painter and I’m looking to start selling pieces and getting in galleries, as well as have my first exhibition by next year ! So that Is coming up next on the to do list !

It truly takes time to fully plan and execute these kinds of visions !
