Terran Eaton shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Terran , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I thought about changing my career and dream aspirations because it felt unlikely. Then I was cast in an episodic that will most likely get to major streaming platforms, with no audition.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Terran Eaton, I also go by Teejay and I am an actor and entertainer. I enjoy entertaining even if it’s content creation on Instagram along with various endeavors like directing and producing new short film.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother saw me before anyone ever. She encouraged my acting aspirations and before it was acting it was dancing. My mother cultivated my love for the art pushing me to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. But the most memorable moment is the car conversation when I was on the verge of quitting and hoping for inspiration and my mother at 1am telling me that God didn’t bless me with this talent, ambition and quitting is suicide to stardom. It literally is killing the idea inception. Never despise the day of small beginnings.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I never forget when I was in an emotional low. I had just got off of a gaslighting situation where I was being verbally abused. She said my life was like a leaf in the wind no direction after my apologies or my sweet spirited messages to encourage. All I was to her was useless because I was broke. Another time when I got into a car accident and felt like God made a mistake but he makes no mistakes and I learned that living is acting and acting is breathing and the moments in between create the balance of life for better work to come.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I will make it. Like my bro Chris used to say fame is certain. Ode to my father who said Eatons Don’t quit. I will be a great actor and I will meet the likeness of Denzel, Michael B, Idris Elba and various other stars. But I won’t quit!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I simply regret not going toward acting earlier and being able to go on movie auditions earlier so my body of work was vast. Right now it feels shallow and I’m hungry for more work.
